DuBois Grad Scott, Reynolds Grad Matthews Capture ACC Wrestling Titles

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – DuBois graduate Ed Scott of North Carolina State (157) pounds and Reynolds graduate Cole Matthews of Pitt (141 pounds) captured the ACC wrestling titles Sunday in Charlottesville, Va.

                        

Scott, who helped NC State to its fourth straight ACC title beat North Carolina’s Auston O’Connor in the final, 3-2.

After a scoreless first, Scott started the second with an escape. He then got the bout’s lone takedown in the second period to defeat O’Connor, a 2021 National Champion, 3-2 to start the championship round.

Matthews, meanwhile, got the lone takedown in his bout against North Carolina State’s Ryan Jack in the first period to pick up a 3-2 win.
