Coudersport Rallies Past OV to Take Control of NTL, Cameron County Powers Past Smethport (Oct. 4 VB Recaps)

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Coudersport took a huge step towards the North Tier League title with a 3-2 (24-26, 24-26, 25-13, 25-23, 18-16) win over Oswayo Valley on Wednesday.

The Falcons improved to 11-1 in the NTL, while Port Allegany sits at 9-3 along with Austin and Port Allegany.

Coudersport led 19-10 in the first set before Oswayo Valley rallied for the 26-24 win.

            

No matter, as Sierra Myers, the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Match, helped key a rally from the 2-0 deficit with 31 kills.

“We’ve been playing together since we were in seventh grade and we play travel ball together,” Myers said during the Cole Orthodontic Associates Player of the Game interview. “We play all year round and we knew this is our year.”

Each team had match points in the fifth set before the Falcons were ultimately able to close it out.

                          

Emily Eckert ran the offense to the tune of 43 set assists for the Falcons, while Myers also had six blocks and four digs, Savannah Myers 10 kills, 11 digs and four aces, Emilee Ruter 32 digs and Madyson Dubots-Angood four kills and 14 digs.

Olivia Cook led Oswayo Valley with 15 kills, 22 digs, six blocks and one ace.

Also for the Green Wave, Makenna Manning had 13 kills, eight digs, four blocks and three aces, Laci Miller-Geiger 36 set assists and Eva West 13 digs, eight kills, two aces and one block.

CAMERON COUNTY 3, SMETHPORT 0

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Catlyn Palumbo and Navaeh Spaeth each had eight kills to lead Cameron County to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 28-26) win over visiting Smethport.

Hailey McAulay ran the Lady Raiders’ offense with 20 set assists.

Madi Faes had 10 digs, eight set assists, and two aces for Smethport while Karlee Tanner added three kills, eight digs, and two aces, and Elizabeth Hungiville chipped in eight digs and three kills.

MERCYHURST PREP 3, UNION CITY 1

UNION CITY, PA. – Olivia Kulyk had 14 kills, six aces, six digs, and four blocks to help Mercyhurst Prep overcome a slow start on the road to beat Union City, 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-21).

Addica Sperry added 14 kills and 12 digs for the Lakers who also got 22 digs from Da’Zhana Jordan and nine digs from Mya Fuller.

                        

Julia Seth ran the Mercyhurst Prep offense with 30 set assists and completed a double-double with 10 digs.

Cathryn Reynolds paced Union City with seven kills and 12 digs with Brooke VanTassel adding five kills and three blocks, and Lily Vincent chipping in 13 digs.

Alyssa Tingley ran the offense for the Bears with 20 set assists and also contributed six aces and six digs.

CRANBERRY 3, UNION 0

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Ayanna Ferringer had 13 kills and four digs to lift visiting Cranberry to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-18) win over Union.

         

Reyna Watson added six aces and five digs for the Berries with Avery Coe chipping in four digs and Lexi Reisinger four aces, three kills, and a block.

Rylee Coe also had four kills for Cranberry, and Allie Rembold ran the offense with 17 set assists while adding two aces, two digs, and a kill.

OTTO-ELDRED 3, GALETON 0

GALETON, Pa. – Carrie Drummond had 20 kills, 18 digs, two blocks, and an ace to lead Otto-Eldred to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-13) win at Galeton.

Kate Rhinehart added seven kills, 12 digs, and five aces for the Lady Terrors, while Anna Schuessler ran the offense with 27 set assists while adding two kills and an ace.

PORT ALLEGANY 3, NORTHERN POTTER 0

ULYSSES, Pa. – Ella Moses had 14 kills and five digs to lead Port Allegany to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-20) win at Northern Potter.

Lily Lehmier added nine kills for the Lady Gators, while Isla Lehmier set up the offense with 29 assists while adding five aces.

Haylee Chapman had four kills, five digs, four aces, and a block for Northern Potter while Kayden Brown added four digs, five set assists, two kills, and two blocks, and Nevaeh Kio had six digs.
