CHICAGO – Clearfield graduate Andrew Janocko, the son of Clearfield head coach Tim Janocko, is the new quarterbacks coach for the Chicago Bears, the team announced Thursday.

Janocko spent the 2021 season as the quarterbacks coach of the Minnesota Vikings. While 2021 was his first year as the Vikings QB coach, he had served on the staff of Mike Zimmer since 2015 in a number of capacities.

He was an offensive quality control coach in 2015 and 2016 and then became the assistant offensive line coach in 2017. After offensive line coach Tony Sparano passed away in July 2018, Janocoko became the co-offensive line coach that season before moving back to assistant offensive line coach in 2019. He spent the 2020 season as Minnesota’s wide receivers coach.

As the wide receivers coach in 2020, Janocko played a role in helping Justin Jefferson become one of the NFL’s top receivers as a rookie. In 2021, Janocko coached veteran QB Kirk Cousins. Cousins threw for 4,221 yards and 33 touchdowns while tossing just seven interceptions, the second-fewest in a full season in his career.

Janocko also spent two seasons (2012-13) as an offensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he worked with then-head coach Greg Schiano as well as offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan in coordinating practice schedules and breaking down film in 2012. That season he also had a hands-on role with the quarterbacks and kick returners before working with the wide receivers and kick returners in 2013.

In 2014, Janocko was the quarterbacks coach at Mercyhurst.

A 2007 graduate of Clearfield, Janocoko went to Pitt where he became the backup quarterback before graduating in 2011. He earned three letters for the Panthers and was also the holder on special teams. Janocko was a three-time Big East All-Academic Team member. During his senior year at Pitt (2010) season, new Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy was a graduate assistant coach for the Panthers.

Tim Janocko is the winningest coach in District 9 history and one of the winningest coaches in Pennsylvania High School football history. The 2021 season was his 36th season at the helm of the Bison and he finished the year with a career mark of 299-117-3.

Janocko’s 299 wins are the 20th most in PA High School football history, and he was the fifth-winningest active coach during the 2021 season.
