Carey Powers Corry Past Girard; Big Second Half Sends Erie Past LeBoeuf

   
   

CORRY, Pa. – Nolan Carey threw four touchdown passes – two each to Gabe Scouten and Rylan Smith as Corry picked up its second win of the season, 42-14 over Girard.

Corry led 13-7 after the first quarter on the strength of a Carey to Smith 16-yard scoring strike and a Will Allen 86-yard punt return, but Girard took a 14-13 lead early in the second quarter on a Ryan St. Julien 6-yard touchdown run.

It was all corry after that.

Carey threw a pair of second quarter touchdown passes to Scouten covering 19 and 17 yards to as the Beavers took a 28-14 halftime lead.

It was more of the same in the third quarter, with Carey connecting with Smith on a 29-yard score to make it 35-14.

            

Mason Savitz capped the scoring for Corry with a 2-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.

Carey finished 14-of-18 through the air for 173 yards and also had a team-leading 58 yards on the ground. Smith led the Beavers with 75 receiving yards.

St. Julien also threw for a 5-yard score to Derek Robison in the first quarter for Girard.

ERIE 50, FORT LEBOEUF 13

WATERFORD, Pa. – Trailing 7-6 at halftime, Erie turned in a monster second half, outscoring Fort LeBoeuf 44-6 in the second half on its way to a 50-13 win.

                          

Adrien Tate accounted for four total touchdowns for the Royals, including three in the third quarter as the Royals pulled ahead to a 34-13 lead.

Tate scored on a 77-yard touchdown run in the third, as well as a 4-yard run and caught a 74-yard touchdown pass from Quani Darnell.

Tate finished with 126 yards rushing and Darnell was 5-of-10 threw the air for 147 yards.

Darnell also threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Tajhae Thomas and a 9-yard touchdown run to open the scoring in the second quarter.

Thomas also scored on a 60-yard touchdown run for the Royals.

Connor McChesney scored on a 25-yard touchdown run in the first half for Fort LeBoeuf, while Aiden Lesik had a 14-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for the Bison.
