Base: Day Shuts Down DCC in Punxsy Win; ECC, DuBois, KC all Get One-Run Victories powered by N. Washington Rodeo

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa . – Nevin Day threw 5 ⅔ innings of shutout baseball and also added an RBI to lead Punxsutawney to an 8-0 win over visiting DuBois Central Catholic.

Day gave up just five hits and two walks while striking out seven.

                  

He was also 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI while his courtesy runner Luke Miller scored a run.

For his efforts, Day was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game and talked about the win on the Cole Orthodontic Associates Postgame interview.

Cooper Hallman, meanwhile, went 3-for-4 with an RBI while his courtesy runner Lucas Silverstein scored twice.

Coy Martino had a pair of RBIs on a two-run triple. He was 1-for-2 with two walks, and Landon Temchulla was 3-for-3 with a walk.

                          

DCC, which didn’t allow any of its first three pitchers to throw more than 25 pitches because of a tournament the Cardinals are playing in State College on Saturday, saw Blake Pisarcik go 2-for-3.

Brayden Fox took the loss in relief of Carter Himes going ⅔ of an inning allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits.

Himes pitched 1 ⅓ scoreless allowing two hits.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 4, CAMERON COUNTY 3

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth, Elk County Catholic overcame a 3-2 deficit to knock off Cameron County, 4-3.

               

Chase Simbeck tied the game with a two-out single in the sixth and then Tom Gilmore followed with the go-ahead single.

Cameron County had the bases loaded with two outs in the seventh after ECC issued an intentional walk to Jesop Farabaugh with runners on second and third, but Colby Nussbaum got Taylon Tucker to ground back to the mound to end the game.

Nussbaum got the save going one innings and walking three.

Lance O’Neill was the winning pitcher going six innings allowing three unearned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six.

O’Neill helped himself going 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.

Pat Forster also doubled and was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Maddox Baughman was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI for Cameron County while Jake Narby was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Farabaugh walked once and drove in two.

Farabaugh took the loss going 5 ⅔ innings allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits, a walk, and three hit batters. He struck out six.

DUBOIS 3, CLEARFIELD 2

            

DUBOIS, Pa. – Kaden Clark scampered home on a wild pitch with two outs in the sixth inning to cap a three-run sixth for DuBois, which was all the Beavers needed in getting a 3-2 win over visiting Clearfield.

Down 2-0 going to the sixth, the Beavers used back-to-back one-out singles, including an infield single, followed by a walk to get things going.

Noah Farrell then halved the lead with an RBI base hit to single before Ricky Clark hit a sac fly to tie the game. Kaden Clark then scored on a 2-2 wild pitch by Christian Welker.

Tycen Roy got the win going seven innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five.

Matt Irvin had a pair of RBIs for Clearfield going 1-for-3 with a triple.

Elijah Quick took the loss going 5 ⅓ innings allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven.

KARNS CITY 3, FREEPORT 2, 9 INNINGS

FREEPORT, Pa. – Colton Christie’s two-out single to right in the top of the ninth broke a 2-all tie and gave Karns City a 3-2 win over Freeport.

Tyler Kelly got the rally started with a one-out single to center before Joey O’Donnell moved him to second with a single to right.

After a groundout moved the runners 90 feet, Christie delivered the go-ahead hit.

The game had been tied at two since the fourth after each team scored a pair of runs in that inning.

O’Donnell led the KC offense going 2-for-3 with a walk.

Adam Manuel got the win in relief of Jacob Jones going three scoreless innings allowing three hits while striking out four.

Jones went six innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four.

Ryan Claypool was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Freeport while Luke Whitfield was 2-for-4 with a double.

Matt Corfield took the loss going two innings allowing an earned run on three hits while striking out one.

BROCKWAY 5, A-C VALLEY/UNION 3

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Matt Brubaker and Ben Yale each had a pair of hits to lead Brockway to a 5-3 win over visiting A-C Valley/Union.

Brubaker was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, while Yale was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored.

Caleb Daugherty also doubled for the Rovers while going 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.

That was plenty of support for Dylan Bash who went seven strong innings allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits. He struck out one while throwing just 79 pitches.

Trey Fleming was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for A-C Valley/Union.

Fleming took the loss going 5 ⅔ innings allowing five runs, three earned, on eight hits, three walks, and two hit batters. He struck out seven.

MONITEAU 4, WEST SHAMOKIN 1

BUTLER, Pa. – Dawson Wallace threw a three-hitter to lift Moniteau to a 4-1 win over visiting West Shamokin.

Wallace gave up one earned run while walking two and striking out eight getting the complete game on just 86 pitches.

Wallace was also 1-for-4 with a double.

James Gillen the the Warriors at the plate going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Landon Kelly was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Ben McConnell went 1-for-3 with an RBI for West Shamokin.

Luke McCullough took the loss going six innings allowing four runs, two earned, on seven hits, a walk, and two hit batters.

BOLIVAR-RICHBURG 5, PORT ALLEGANY 4, 11 INNINGS

BOLIVAR, N.Y. – Reiss Gaines’s walk-off single gave Bolivar-Richburg a 5-4, 11-inning win over Port Allegany.

Gaines brought home Braden Zilker, who had started the 11th with a double.

The game had been tied at four since the sixth when Port Allegany tied the contest when Aiden Bliss tripled and scored on an error on the same play.

The Gators had a chance in the 10th when they got back-to-back one-out singles but a fly out and a groundout ended that threat.

Nick Wilfong was 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored for Port Allegany while Bliss was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored and Tyler Fillhart was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

Gaines went 3-for-4 with two walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs for B-R.

Trey Buchholz got the win in relief of Caden Allen. He went four innings allowing three hits and two walks while striking out five.

Allen pitched seven innings allowing four earned runs on on eight hits while striking out seven.

Kellen Veilleux took the loss allowing a run on two hits and a walk without recording an out.

Wilfong started and went 4 ⅓ innings allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits and three walks while striking out six. Derek Smith then pitched 5 ⅔ innings scoreless allowing two hits and three walks while striking out four.

TYRONE 4, CURWENSVILLE 2

ALTOONA, Pa. – Ryan Light drove in a pair of runs to help Tyrone to a 4-2 win over Curwensville in a consolation game at the Curve Classic at PNG Field in Altoona.

Light was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored, while Gayge Miller went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI in the win.

Andrew Pentz was 2-for-4 for Curwensville while Lawson Neiswender and Kyler Nelen each had RBIs for the Golden Tide.

Dylan Ewing got the win going 6 ⅓ innings allowing two earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out six.

Brandon McClure picked up the save throwing ⅔ of an inning striking out one.

Pentz took the loss going six innings allowing four runs, all earned, on five hits, four walks, and a hit batter. He struck out two.

CLARION 14, BROOKVILLE 2, 5 INNINGS

PAINT TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Devon Lauer drove in five runs and was also the winning pitcher, as Clarion raced past visiting Brookville, 14-2, in five innings at the Clarion County Park.

Lauer was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, and three runs scored. He also pitched four innings allowing an earned run on four hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out one.

Matt Alston added three RBIs for the Bobcats going 1-for-1 while Noah Harrison was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Bryce Brinkley added a 2-for-3 day with an RBI and two runs scored, Derek Smail was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored, Dawson Smail was 1-for-4 with two runs scored, and Tanner Miller was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Derek Smail also gave up an unearned run in an inning of work. He walked two and hit a batter while striking out three.

Owen Fleming was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored for Brookville.

Sergio Sotillo took the loss going three innings allowing eight runs, three earned, on six hits and a walk.

COUDERSPORT SWEEPS NORTHERN POTTER

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Coudersport swept a doubleheader from visiting Northern Potter taking Game One 15-0 in three innings and Game Two 14-1.

In the first game, Mason Roessner, Quinn Kratzer, and Viggo Brown each had a pair of RBIs for the Falcons.

Roessner was 1-for-1 with two walks and a run scored, Kratzer was 1-for-1 with a walk, and two runs scored, and Brown walked and scored a run.

Gavin Ayers scored three times while walking twice in the victory.

Owen Deutschlander got the win going three scoreless innings allowing two hits and a walk while striking out four.

Kaden Hoopes took the loss going 1 ⅔ innings allowing 14 runs, 13 earned, on four hits, 11 walks, and a hit batter. He struck out one.

In the second game, Ayers was 3-for-3 with a triple, a walk, two runs scored, and three RBIs to lead Coudersport to victory.

Mitchell Taylor also drove in three runs while going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and four runs scored, while Roessner was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Mason Bock also had a pair of RBIs for the Falcons going 1-for-1, while Brown was 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Blayk Risser was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Northern Potter.

Roessner got the win going seven innings allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out nine. He needed just 82 pitches for the complete game.

Conhar Snyder took the loss going 2 ⅓ innings allowing six earned runs on four hits, five walks, and two hit batters. He struck out one.

WILLIAMSON 11, OSWAYO VALLEY 3

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Christian Ling and Seth Zimmerman each had a pair of RBIs to lead Williamson to an 11-3 win at Oswayo Valley.

Sawyer Carleton got the win going 6 ⅔ innings allowing three runs, one earned, on three hits and three walks while striking out 10.

Isaiah Goode was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Oswayo Valley.

Nik Bonney took the loss going five innings allowing five runs, two earned, on eight hits and two walks while striking out four.

FRANKLIN 10, CRANBERRY 0, 5 innings

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Alex Wible was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, including a 2-run home run as Franklin beat Cranberry, 10-0 in five innings.

Franklin scored seven runs in the first two innings, scoring their 10 runs on just six hits while taking advantage of 12 walks issued by Cranberry pitching.

Evan Turner was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Franklin, while Drew Kockler was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs.

Turner got the win, allowing one hit in four innings, striking out eight and walking two.

Talon Rex had the lone hit for Cranberry.

Landon Burgdorfer took the loss, allowing seven runs in two innings on five hits, striking out two and walking five.
