Soft: Cathedral Prep, Slippery Rock Rally for Wins; Franklin Blanks Mercer Powered by N. Washington Rodeo

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Madison Simmerman’s 3-run double in the seventh inning rallied Cathedral Prep to an 11-10 win over Sharpsville.

Sharpsville had scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 10-7 lead.

Simmerman had three hits to go along with her three RBIs, while Addison Baldi was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Mackenzie Moore 1-for-4 with an RBI and Camryn Chimera 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Simmerman got the win in relief, going five innings and allowing four runs on six hits, striking out nine.

Izzie Candiotti was 4-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs for Sharpsville, while Emma Brest was 1-for-3 with three RBIs, Haley White 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored and Miah Applegarth 2-for-5 with two runs.

                  

SLIPPERY ROCK 10, GROVE CITY 9, 8 innings

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Lyla Runtas stole home in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Slippery Rock to a 10-9 win over Grove City.

The run capped a big comeback from Slippery Rock, which scored five runs in the seventh inning to force extras.

Savannah Smith was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, whale Mia Sosa was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs.

Sosa got the complete game win, scattering 16 hits, allowing seven earned runs and striking out seven.

                          

Johanna Smiley was 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Grove City, while Morgan Eaton was 3-for-5 with two runs and Lexi Murphy 2-for-4 with an RBI.

FRANKLIN 3, MERCER 0

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Jersey Swartz fired a 6-hit shutout as Franklin beat Mercer, 3-0.

Swartz allowed six hits, struck out four and didn’t issue a walk. Abby Boland had the lone RBI for Franklin.

Angelina Eakman took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) in six innings on two hits, striking out 11 and walking six.

               

SENECA 10, FAIRVIEW 8

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Seneca scored three runs in the top of the seventh to rally for a 10-8 win over Fairview.

Aubrey Hammill hit an RBI single and a steal of home and a wild pitch allowed two more runs to cross the plate.

Hammill finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored, while Hannah Wieczorek was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, Alara Bem 3-for-4 with a run, Haylee Farrell 1-for-4 with three RBIs and Mallory Hammill 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Savanna Primavere went five innings in the circle, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out one.

Taylor Polach was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs and Jenna Szklenski was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
