PSAC Football: Mercyhurst Stuns Clarion in Final Seconds; Big Fourth Quarter Keeps Slippery Rock Perfect

CLARION, Pa. – Mercyhurst grabbed their second win of the campaign Saturday afternoon after storming back to take the win over the Golden Eagles. The Lakers scored 22 points in the second half to help them come from behind and play spoilers in 36-35 victory.

Jaylen Butera scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with five seconds and, trailing by one, the Lakers went for two and got it.

Meadville grad Khalon Simmons had two rushing touchdowns for Clarion.

SLIPPERY ROCK 49, GANNON 24

            

ERIE, Pa. – The 10th-ranked Slippery Rock University football team scored 28 unanswered points in the second half to pull away for a 49-24 victory on the road at Gannon University Saturday in a first place battle in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division.

The Rock improve to 7-0 overall and stay atop the PSAC West with a 4-0 mark in the division. Gannon sees its three-game winning streak snapped and slips to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in PSAC West action.

Conneaut grad Kyle Sheets had 134 yards receiving and three touchdowns for The Rock.

IUP 20, EDINBORO 10

                          

INDIANA, Pa. – IUP held Edinboro scoreless in the second half and rode 13 unanswered points to a hard–fought 20-10 win in rainy conditions at Miller Stadium on Saturday.

IUP (4-3, 2-2) snapped a two-game losing streak on Saturday and began asserting itself on both sides of the ball in the second half. Dayjure Stewart opened the scoring with a 78-yard jaunt down the right sideline and closed the scoring with a 19-yard reception from Nico Marchitelli in the fourth quarter.

CAL 41, SETON HILL 14

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Junior wide receiver Omari Hopkins scored three touchdowns and redshirt freshman defensive back Keith Charney made three interceptions, as the Vulcans rolled to a 41-14 victory over Seton Hill on Homecoming at Adamson Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.
