NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – It was a big day for the Brookville boys at the Redbank Valley Invitational on Thursday, as they took home seven first-place finishes.
Jack Pete led the way for the Raiders, winning the 100 (11.15), 200 (23.10), running anchor on the 4×100 relay team that also included Nick Shaffer, Hayden Freeman and Jacob Murdock (44.16) and also running a winning leg on the 4×400 relay team that also included Jack Gill, Murdock and Freeman (3:3.85).
Brayden Ross dominated in the field for the Raiders, winning the shot put (50-3.5) and discus (145-2). Also for the Raiders, Ty Fiscus won the 3200 (9:56.00).
Franklin’s Bryson Watson won the 110 (15.10) and 300 (40.26) hurdles, while the Knights’ 4×800 relay team of Jay Prettyman, Gauge Gierlach, Easton Adamczyk and Caleb Prettyman took first in 8:17.05.
Union/A-C Valley had two first-place finishes, with Hayden Smith winning the high jump (6-8) and Aidan Fox the triple (jump).
Other winners for the boys were Punxsutawney’s Garrett Bartlebaugh (2:00.85) and DuBois’ Edward Burkett in the pole vault (12-0).
On the girls’ side, it was a strong meet for Punxsutawney, led by Riley Miller and Mary Grusky. Miller won the 400 (1:01.41) and 800 (2:27.42), narrowly edging DuBois’ Nicole Wells in the 400 (1:01.44) and North Clarion’s Gia Babington in the 800 (2:27.75).
Grusky, meanwhile, won the javelin (128-5) and discus (130-0).
DuBois also had a pair of double winners in Morgan Roemer and Lauren Stroka. Roemer won the 3200 (11:48.16) and ran a leg of the winning 4×800 relay team that also included Morgan King, Sidney Beers and Olivia Dressler (10:16.46).
Stroka, meanwhile, won the long jump (17-0) and triple jump (35-6).
Other winners were Redbank Valley’s Mylee Harmon in the 300 hurdles (47.06), DuBois Central Catholic’s Zoe Puhala in the 1600 (5:30.08) and the Brookville 4×400 relay team of Hannah Geer, Whitney Guth, Adell Doty and Kaida Yoder.
MERCER COUNTY INVITATIONAL
GROVE CITY, Pa. – At the Mercer County Invite, Sharpsville’s Chance Miller and Grove City’s Isaiah Stauff were two-time winners in the boys’ meet, while Milena Sciullo was a double winner in the girl’s meet.
Miller won the 200-meter dash (22.86) and the 400-meter dash (51.44), while Stauff won the 1,600-meter run (4:33.26) and the 3,200-meter run (10:03.27).
Sciullo won the high jump (5 feet, 3 inches) and the triple jump (37-7).
