DuBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC TOURNAMENT
FINALS
Moniteau 13, DuBois Central Catholic 6
DuBOIS, Pa. – A 10-run seventh inning propelled Moniteau to a 13-6 victory over DuBois Central Catholic in the championship of the DCC Tournament Saturday.

The Warriors trailed the Cardinals 5-3 after six, then started the seventh with three walks and a single to cut the deficit to 5-4. Brady Thompson’s RBI single with one out tied the game at 5-5. Dean Hershey followed with an RBI single of his own to put Moniteau ahead 6-5.

   

                  

Moniteau did most of its damage with two outs. One run scored when Tanner Williams reached on an error, then Keagan Book followed with a run-scoring single and, with the bases loaded, Mason Mershimer was hit by a pitch to stretch the lead to 9-5. Branson Carson and Dawson Wallace finished the scoring with consecutive 2-run doubles.

Mershimer and Wallace each drove in three runs, while Book and Carson each had a pair of RBI. Wallace picked up the win after he allowed two runs, none earned, over three innings on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Brandin Anderson had three hits and two RBI for the Cardinals. Damon Foster also drove in a pair on two hits.

SEMIFINALS
Moniteau 7, South Allegheny 5
The Warriors scored four runs in the third and two more in the fourth on their way to a 7-5 win over South Allegheny.

Mershimer and Wallace each had two hits and an RBI. Carson and Ray Dean split mound duties. Carson gave up four runs, one earned, on four hits over 3.2 innings with five walks and five strikeouts. Dean allowed one earned run on two hits in 3.1 innings with three walks and four strikeouts.

                          

DCC 13, Elk County Catholic 9
DuBois Central Catholic scored four runs in the first inning and five in the fifth to outlast Elk County Catholic 13-9 in a high-scoring affair.

Dante Arminini led the way with four RBI, while Kaden Brezenski drove in three. Carter Hickman, Damon Foster and Brandin Anderson each had a pair of hits. Anderson got the win as he allowed two earned runs on three hits with four walks and eight strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

Luke Ginther, Jordan DePrater and Mark Kraus drove in two runs each for the Crusaders.

SOFTBALL
DuBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 15, KARNS CITY 5
KARNS CITY, Pa. – DuBois Central Catholic’s offense exploded for six runs in both the first and fifth innings as the Cardinals flew past Karns City, 15-5, in five innings Saturday.

               

Mia Meholick and Chelsea Busatto combined for five hits (2 and 3, respectively) and eight RBI (four each), to lead the offensive output. Shyanne Lundy and Madison Hoyt each had a hit and two RBI. Morgan Tyler allowed five runs, four earned, on four hits with five walks and eight strikeouts in five innings.

Jess Dunn had a hit and two RBI for the Lady Gremlins, while Mara Paton had a solo homerun.

SLIPPERY ROCK 6, MONITEAU 4
WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Slippery Rock scored three runs in the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie en route to a 6-4 victory at Moniteau Saturday.

The Rockets took advantage of three Warriors errors in the inning to put runners on second and third with one out. Olivia Andreas scored when Samantha Meredith reached on a fielder’s choice. Paige Gresgott followed with an RBI single and Kinzie Miller put down a squeeze bunt to bring in the third run.

Miller drove in three runs and Gresgott finished with three hits. Gresgott was the winning pitcher. She allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.

Courtney Stewart, Abby Rottman and Mariska Shunk each had two hits for the Warriors. Stewart took the loss after giving up six runs, one earned, on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.
