Jamestown’s Historic Softball Season Comes to a Close in PIAA 3A Semifinals Powered by N. Washington Rodeo

DUBOIS, Pa. – Elizabeth Gaisior struck out 20 in a 1-hit shutout as Juniata beat D10 champion Jamestown in the PIAA Class 3A softball semifinals.

Gaisior, who is committed to play at Division 1 Fordham, also allowed just one walk.

Kiley Matters drew a one-out walk in the first inning and Madilyn Enterline had a one-out single in the second, but that was it for the Muskies against Gaisior.

Both programs were making their first-ever appearance in the PIAA semifinals.

Juniata (25-3) broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with three runs, as Sophia Smith had an RBI double with one out to make it 1-0, which was immediately followed by a 2-run single off the bat of Alexa Kuhn.

                  

Alexea Frontz had an RBI single in the fifth to make it 4-0 and Gaisior had a 2-out, 2-run double in the sixth to make it 6-0. Gaisior also had two of Juniata’s six hits.

Miranda Biles took the loss for Jamestown (22-3), allowing six runs (five earned) in seven innings, on six hits, striking out nine, and walking five.

The win was the 18th this season by shutout for the Indians.

Juniata advances to play either Palisades or Mid Valley for the PIAA title on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Nittany Lion Softball Park (University Park, Pa.). That semifinal game was postponed until Tuesday due to weather.
