WARREN, Pa. – It was a year that didn’t produce a state champion but did produce a number of great teams and great moments across District 10 baseball.

The D9and10Sports.com District 10 Baseball Awards and all-district teams reflect that, beginning with Player of the Year Jason Fultz of Cathedral Prep, as well as Pitcher of the Year (Fairview’s Colin Bolla), Rookie of the Year (Cathedral Prep’s Andrew Costello) and Manager of the Year (Sharpsville’s Ryan Morris).

Just a sophomore Fultz, a Clemson commit, led a loaded Ramblers lineup that saw them go 22-2, win a District 10 title and reach the PIAA quarterfinals. For the season, the third baseman hit .431 with seven home runs (in 65 at-bats, a home run every 9.3 at-bats) to go along with 38 RBIs, seven doubles, and two triples. He also had a 3-0 record in 17 ⅓ innings pitched on the mound.

Bolla, meanwhile, was dominant for a Fairview team that went 18-3, won the D10 3A title, and reached the PIAA quarterfinals. In 54 innings pitched, Bolla went 7-0 with a 0.65 ERA, striking out 105, allowing just 21 hits and walking 29. He also tossed 6 ⅓ of a seven-inning perfect game against Franklin in the D10 quarterfinals, with teammate Aari Fox coming in to get the final two outs.

Costello has established himself as one of the top freshman second baseman not just in Pennsylvania, but the entire country. He hit .412 in his rookie campaign for the Ramblers with five home runs, seven doubles, two triples, 41 RBIs and a 1.311 OPS.

Sharpsville didn’t win an ultra-competitive Region1, finishing behind Greenville and Lakeview and tied with Wilmington after 1 -4 start, but the Blue Devils did win the D10 Class 2A title and finished just short of a berth in the PIAA championship game, dropping a 1-0 heartbreaker in 10 innings to Bald Eagle (which went on to win the state title) in the semifinals. Morris, a Sharpsville alum, guided the Blue Devils to a 17-7 mark that included that run through the district and PIAA playoffs.

In addition to the major award winners, an All-District 10 first and second team was named.
