GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State University Atheltic Department has named Coudersport High School alum Kiara Perkins as its next women’s volleyball head coach.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to coach this team,” Perkins said. “It is clear that everyone has a common goal to have a strong season this Fall. The players I have spoken with are very enthusiastic, and I am looking forward to working with them.”

Perkins attended Alfred State College where she obtained her degree in Human Services Management. During her four-year playing career, she received multiple all-conference selections, was nominated for NCAA Women of the Year, and sits on several all-time lists at ASC.

After her playing career Perkins joined the coaching staff at Alfred State. In her one year as an assistant ASC won the league title posting a record of (21-7). During the 2022 campaign, the Pioneers were perfect at home going (13-0) and won 16 straight contests.

“I am thankful to Coach Doorley and everyone back at Alfred who provided me so much in the way of guidance and opportunity,” Perkins said. “Coach brought me along as a player, and helped me view the game of volleyball from the coaching side as well.”

Along with coaching at the collegiate level, Perkins has coached at the club level for four years.

When asked about the hire Athletic Director Jesse Skiles stated, “We are very excited to welcome Coach Perkins to the Pioneer Family.” “She was very impressive in her interview and has been a winner on the volleyball court throughout her playing and coaching career. She comes from a successful program at Alfred, and is ready to make her mark as a head coach in the sport.”
