Bliss Takes Second in Javelin at Pan American U20 Championships

MAYAGUEZ, PUERTO RICO, – Evie Bliss’ javelin talents have taken her to an international level.

Bliss, the record-breaking PIAA javelin champion for Union/A-C Valley, finished second at the 2023 Pan American U20 championships on Sunday with a throw of 173’ (52.73 meters).

The throw for Bliss was a personal best.

She finished second only to Manuela Rotundo Silvera of Uruguay, who won the event with a throw of 182’ (55.49 meters).

Bliss qualified for the event by winning the U20 competition at the USATF Outdoor Championships at the University of Oregon last month with a throw of 169’11”.

That throw came shortly after she won PIAA Class 2A gold in the javelin with a meet-record throw of 170’2”.
