Zimmerman, Hohman Finish Second, Lead Host of D9/10 Medalists at PIAA Wrestling Championships Powered by Powered by Luton’s Plumbing, Heating, A/C

HERSHEY, Pa. – Brookville’s Jackson Zimmerman and Grove City’s Hunter Hohman are taking home silver medals after brilliant performances at the PIAA Class 2A wrestling championships.

Both went into Saturday with a chance at a state title, with Hohman dropping a 5-0 decision to Laurel’s Grant Mackay in the 160-pound final, while Zimmerman was pinned in the second period by Frazier’s Rune Lawrence, who his third-straight state title.

Zimmerman made it a fifth-straight season with a Raider in the finals and joins Owen Reinsel from last season as a second-place finisher.

Hohman, meanwhile, was won of three Grove City wrestlers to medal, joining his brother, Hudson, who was fourth at 121, as well as Cody Hamilton, who was eighth at 145.

In total, 24 wrestlers from District 9 and District 10 reached the medal stand (15 from District 10 and nine from District 9).

There was at least one D9/10 wrestler to medal in every weight class, led by three each at 215 and 285 – Fort LeBoeuf’s Danny Church (3rd), Girard’s Abe Keep (6th), and Cranberry’s Brayden McFedtridge (7th) at 215 and Port Allegany’s Carson Neely (4th), Brockway’s Gavin Thompson (5th) and General McLane’s Wilson Spires (7th) at 285.

In addition to Grove City, Cranberry also had three wrestlers medal – McFetridge, Dalton Wenner (7th at 107), and Elijah Brosius (8th at 121).

Brockway’s Weston Pisarchick (114) and St. Marys Waylon Wehler (172) both finished third, with Wehler coming all the way back in the consolations.

Clearfield’s Brady Collins was fourth at 139.

Other schools with multiple medalists included Conneaut – Hunter Gould (5th at 127) and Collin Hearn (4th at 160), North East (Cyrus Hurd 6th at 127) and Steffan Lynch (7th at 152), Reynolds – Chase Bell (8th at 133) and Jalen Wagner (6th at 172), Brockway – Pisarchick and Thompson and General McLane – Spires and Magnus Lloyd (6th at 189).

District 10 also had a pair of medalists in Class 3A, as McDowell’s Logan Sallot was third at 114 and Hickory’s Connor Saylor sixth at 139.
