Villa Maria, Fairview Claim D10 Class 2A Soccer Titles

EDINBORO, Pa. – Villa Maria scored all four of its goals in the second half to win the District 10 Class 2A soccer title, 4-0 over Fort LeBoeuf.

The title is the 13th in program history and the third in a row for the Victors.

Ella Raimondi broke the scoreless tie three minutes into the second half, and Villa was off to the races.

With 23 minutes remaining, it was Alexa Tojaga that found the back of the net to make it 2-0.

Villa proceed to score its third and fourth goals three minutes apart, as Raimondi scored her second of the game with 13 minutes to go and Callie Cacchione put the finishing touches on the game with 10 minutes remaining.

            

With the win, Villa advances to play the No. 3 seed from the WPIAL, either Southmoreland or Shady Side Academy, in the first round of the PIAA playoffs on Tuesday.

EDINBORO, Pa. – An own goal in overtime lifted Fairview past Grove City for the District 10 title.

Grove City led 1-0 until just over 16 minutes to go, when Fairview’s Nathan George tied the game, ultimately sending it to overtime.

Jacob Irani had a first-half goal for Grove City.

                          

Both teams advance to the PIAA playoffs. Fairview will meet the No. 3 seed from the WPIAL, Ambridge in the first round on Tuesday, while Grove City will square off with WPIAL champ Quaker Valley.
