Villa Girls Roll Past St. Marys in Class 4A; Kennedy Catholic Topples Shanksville-Stonycreek in Class 1A

ERIE, Pa. – The District 10 champion Villa Maria Victors had no problem with District 9 champ St. Marys in their Class 4A girls subregional game on Wednesday, racing to a 60-13 victory.

The Victors, who remained unbeaten at 18-0, scored 32 points in the first quarter en route to the win. 

Carissa Dunham was the lone Villa player in double figures with 14 points, while Ainsley Thunell added nine and Jayden McBride eight. 

                                      

The Victors had 11 different players make their way into the scoring column in the win. 

St. Marys, which finishes its season at 15-5, got five points from Samantha Hayes. 

Villa advances to play District 7 champion Beaver in the PIAA quarterfinals on Saturday. 

CLASS 1A GIRLS

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 48, SHANKSVILLE-STONYCREEK 28

                          

WINDBER, Pa. – Kennedy Catholic, fresh off its 11th straight District 10 title, knocked off District 5 champion Shanksville-Stonycreek 48-28 in the first round of the PIAA Class 1A playoffs. 

The Golden Eagles, who stayed unbeaten at 19-0, used an 18-7 second-quarter run to take control of the game. 

Paris Gilmore scored nine of her 18 points in the second quarter for KC, including a pair of 3s to extend the lead to 15 at halftime. 

Bellah DiNardo scored 13 points for Kennedy, while Hayden Keith and Keegan McConahy added nine each. 

Rylee Snyder was the lone Shanksville (20-5) player in double figures with 15 points. 

Kennedy Catholic advances to play District 7 champion Rochester in the PIAA quarterfinals on Saturday.
