2020 PIAA Playoffs (OC FB, RV, Clarion VB)

Video Conversation with a State Champion: Clarion Volleyball

CLARION, Pa. – For the second time in program history and the first time since 2012, the Clarion volleyball team won the PIAA Class 1A title Nov. 21 with a 3-0 win over Marian Catholic.

It completed a near-perfect season for the Lady Cats, who went 69-1 in sets played including a perfect 15-0 in playoff action (9-0 in PIAA play) becoming just the third Class 1A team since the PIAA went to rally scoring in volleyball in 2003 to win a state title without losing a set.

D9and10sports.com’s Chris Rossetti had a chance to talk to eight of the key members of the team via a Zoom video conference last week to get their thoughts on winning the state title during a pandemic and some of the behind-the-scenes things that others might not have known about.

Joining Rossetti on the Zoom call were seniors Brenna Campbell, Erica Selfridge, and Ava Kiser, juniors Korrin Burns, Payton Simko, and Jordan Best, and sophomores Aryana Girvan and Adia Needhman (as well as Burns’ brother Jake’s dog! making a brief appearance).

The video can be seen above or below.
