Upon Further Review Straub Two Wins Shy of 900 as ECC Boys’ Coach

ST. MARYS, Pa. – After digging through the record books a little deeper, it turns out Elk County Catholic boys’ basketball coach Aaron Straub is still two wins shy of 900 as the boys’ coach for the Crusaders.

It was originally believed Straub had won his 900th boys’ game with a victory over St. Marys Friday night. This was based on information that showed Straub with 24 wins as ECC’s girls coach prior to taking over the boys’ program.

But a deeper look into the numbers shows Straub had 27 wins over two seasons as the ECC girls coach – something we reported on correctly last year – not 24,  a number that popped up – erroneously – during this year’s preseason. A deeper look into his time as boys’ coach also shows he had one more win than previously reported giving him 898 boys’ wins and 925 overall wins (it was reported Friday he has 925 overall wins) after Friday night’s win.

The earliest – baring cancelations – Straub can achieve his 900th boys win would be Friday, Jan. 21, when the Crusaders host Ridgway. ECC travels to Sheffield for a makeup game Wednesday, Jan. 19.
