Smith cleared 6’9”, besting the meet and facility record set by Redbank Valley’s Sam Hetrick in 2019 at 6’7”.

Smith’s performance was one of several highlights, which included Redbank sophomore standout Mylee Harmon.

Harmon had a win in the 100, narrowly edging Cranberry’s Laiyla Russell – 12.95 to 12.98, and raced to victory in the 200 as well.

It was in the 400 where the surprise came. Harmon, the defending Class 2A state champion in the event, ran a strong time of 1:00.66 but was edged in a photo finish by Warren’s Lily Newton, who finished with a time of 1:00.64.

Brookville Julie Monnoyer also had a strong day on the girls’ side, winning the triple jump and 100 hurdles.

For the boys, Coudersport distance runner Kevin Sherry turned in a dominant performance. Sherry won both the 1600 and 3200, clearing the field by 14 seconds in the 1600 and 20 seconds in the 3200. He broke the meet record in the 3,200 while just missing breaking the record in the 1,600.

The boys’ 100 and 200 featured a split, as Brookville’s Brayden Kunselman beat Punxsutawney’s Brett Dean, 11.08 to 11.22, while Dean came back and won the 200 with a time of 23.05 with Kunselman running in 23.47.
