Toven Hits Two Home Runs in First Inning as Punxsutawney Rolls; A-C Valley/Union Wins

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Back-to-back home runs by the No. 2 and No. 3 hitters in the Punxsutawney lineup at the start of the first inning fueled a 19-0, three-inning win by the visiting Lady Chucks over Redbank Valley.

Punxsutawney smacked four first-inning home runs, including two by Ciarra Toven, in an 11-run first inning.

Toven went 3-for-3 with a pair of two-run first-inning homers while scoring twice and driving in five runs. She also had a double.

Avary Powell and Karli Young also went deep for the Lady Chucks in the opening inning with Powell going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI and Young going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Young also doubled.

               

Emily Dobbins also had a pair of hits (2-for-3, 1 run, 1 RBI) and Brooke Skrabek drove in three runs while going 1-for-1 with a double and two walks and two runs scored in the win.

Brynn Hergert was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs as well.

Braylee Yeany had the lone hit in the game for Redbank Valley.

Young got the win in relief of Toven going two innings and allowing one hit. Toven pitched one inning striking out three.

Toven retired the only three batters she faced with a strikeout, then Constantino put in Karli Young to throw the final two innings. Braylee Yeany’s infield single with two outs in the bottom of the third was Redbank Valley’s lone base runner.

                          

Mackenzie Foringer took the loss going three innings allowing 19 runs, three earned, on 15 hits and three walks. She struck out two.

A-C VALLEY/UNION 16, LAKEVIEW 4, 5 INNINGS

LAKEVIEW, Pa. – Bella Ielase and Emerson Stevens each drove in three runs to lead A-C Valley/Union to a 16-4, five-inning win at Lakeview.

Stevens went 2-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored, while Ielease was 2-for-5 with three runs scored.

Mackenzie Parks had four hits for the Falcon Knights going 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Lexi Bauer was 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs.

               

Also for A-C Valley, Rylan Strauser and Alivya Hatzell each had three hits.

Both players were 3-for-3 three runs scored and two RBIs with a walk each. One of Hartzell’s hits was a triple.

Kya Wetzel chipped in a triple while going 1-for-3 with two runs scored while also walking.

Hemi Brazel was 1-for-1 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI for Lakeview with Zoe Proper going 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Stevens got the win going three innings allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits and four walks while striking out seven.

Parks pitched two innings allowing one unearned run on a hit and a walk while striking out three.

Brazel took the loss going five innings allowing 16 runs, 13 earned, on 19 hits and three walks while striking out three.
