SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – It was a season to remember for Saegertown softball, led by the powerful arm of Mikaila Obenrader.

The Lady Panthers went 16-5, beating Cochranton for the District 10 Class 1A title and advancing to the PIAA semifinals.

Saegertown earned PIAA first-round and quarterfinal wins against Elk County Catholic and Union (New Castle), and to say that Obenrader was brilliant in both games would be an understatement.

In the 6-0 quarterfinal win over ECC, Obenrader struck out 15 while allowing just two hits, as the Lady Panthers scored four runs in the first inning, keyed by RBI hits from Rhiannon Paris and Hailee Gregor.

In the semifinal win over Union, she was even better, literally unhittable. Obenrader tossed eight no-hit innings, striking out 11 and walking just a pair.

Saegertown broke the scoreless tie in the eighth inning, as Paris’ RBI double brought in Alyssa Arblaster, who walked and was sacrificed to second by Rylie Braymer.

Obenrader was named D9and10Sports.com District 10 Pitcher of the Year. She had a 1.23 ERA in going 16-5. She struck out 242 batters to just 42 walks, had one perfect game, and limited opponents to a .094 batting average against.

Braymer joined her as a second-team All-District 10 selection.
