Tiracorda Fires Shutout as Penn State DuBois Advances to Winner’s Bracket Final in Small College World Series

DUBOIS, Pa. – Zach Tiracorda fired a 3-hit shutout as Penn State DuBois beat Penn State Mt. Alto 2-0 to advance to the winner’s bracket final in the USCAA Small College World Series.

Tiracorda was dominant, striking out eight and walking two, throwing 63 of his 91 pitches for strikes while facing just three over the minimum.

Cory Lehman broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the fourth inning and Colby Bodtorf’s RBI groundout in the fifth gave DuBois an insurance run.

Trystan Housman suffered the loss, allowing two runs on three hits in six innings while walking four and striking out nine.

Grant Lillard walked and scored a run for DuBois.

With the win, the ninth-seeded Lions advance to play the winner of No. 2 Bucks County Community College and No. 3 UC Clermont (in progress as of 11:40 p.m) in the winner’s bracket final on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
