West Middlesex Boys Battle Past Reynolds in Overtime; Grove City, Franklin Boys Snag Big Region Wins Jan. 17, 2023

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – West Middlesex battled back from a 30-19 halftime deficit to claim a 60-53 overtime win over Reynolds.

                  

Richie Preston scored 22 points to lead West Middlesex, while Gio Rococi had 20 points.

Haydin McLaughlin had 18 points and Jake Williams had 17 for Reynolds.

GROVE CITY 39, HICKORY 36

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City built a 24-12 halftime lead and held on for a 39-36 win over Hickory.

                                      

Gavin Lutz scored seven of his 13 points in the first quarter for Grove City, while Brett Loughry also had 13 points for the Eagles.

Nathan Greer had nine of his 11 points in the first half for GC.

Tyson Djakovich scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half for Hickory, while Rylan Dye added nine.

FRANKLIN 68, WARREN 62

WARREN, Pa. – Franklin outscored Warren 24-16 in the third quarter on its way to a 68-62 win.

                          

Damon Curry and Ethan Owens scored 20 points each for Franklin, with Curry scoring 10 of his points in the first quarter.

Cole Buckley and Jalen Wood made it four Franklin players in double figures, with Buckley scoring 16 points and Wood 11.

Parks Ordiway knocked down four 3’s and finished with a game-high 22 points for Warren, while Tommy Nyquist scored 14 points and Konnor Hoffman nine.

COCHRANTON 60, EISENHOWER 56

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Cochranton grabbed a 6-point lead through the first quarter and made it hold up in a 60-56 Region 3 win over Eisenhower.

The Cardinals led 19-13 after the first eight minutes, and though the Knights won the fourth quarter, 16-14, it wasn’t enough to erase the early deficit.

Walker Carroll led Cochranton with 20 points. Dawson Carroll and Landon Homa each scored 15 points in the win.

Kyler Black had a game-high 21 points for the Knights. Kael Hunt poured in 15 and Kris Bunk had eight.

FARRELL 70, JAMESTOWN 46

FARRELL, Pa. – Farrell went on a 25-8 run in the second quarter on its way to a 70-46 win over Jamestown.

                                   

Lamont Samuels scored eight of his 16 points in the first quarter to lead a balanced Farrell effort.

Khanye Matthews and Kylon Wilson were also in double figures for Farrell with 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Nasir O’Kane added nine.

Gage Planavsky scored all 15 of his points in the second half to lead Jamestown, while Cam Keyser added 12.

ROCKY GROVE 61, YOUNGSVILLE 49

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – With the game tied at 38-all going into the fourth quarter, Rocky Grove went on a 23-11 run over the final eight minutes to earn a 61-49 win over Youngsville.

Schiffer Anderson scored nine of his 15 points in the fourth quarter to lead Rocky Grove, while Quinn Ritchey finished with 13 points and D’Andre Whitman 10.

Koby Hendrickson led Youngsville with 15 points, while Nathan Lucks added seven and Wyatt Dalrymple six.

SAEGERTOWN 69, MAPLEWOOD 33

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Zach Yoder led four Saegertown players in double figures with 18 points as the Panthers nabbed a 69-33 win over Maplewood.

Collin Jones scored 14 points for the Panthers, while Henry Shaffer had all 13 of his points in the first half, and Brady Greco all 11 of his points in the second half.

Ethan Peterson led Maplewood with nine points.

SHARON 61, SLIPPERY ROCK 59

SHARON, Pa. – Derek Douglas had 21 points as Sharon edged Slippery Rock, 61-59.

Owen Shenker added 12 points and Santino Piccirilli nine for Sharon.

Dylan Gordon had 20 points and John Sabo 11 for Slippery Rock.

                                  

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 61, UNION CITY 33

UNION CITY, Pa. – Parker Schmidt scored 17 points to lead three Cambridge Springs players in double figures in a 61-33 win over Union City.

Schmidt scored 14 of his points in the second half for Cambridge Springs, which outscored Union City 27-12 in the second half.

Ethan Counasse had 14 points and Josh Reisenauer had 11 for the Blue Devils.

Wyatt Post and Josh James had nine points each for Union City.

CATHEDRAL PREP 63, MEADVILLE 47

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Zion Barksdale scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds as Cathedral Prep earned a 63-47 win over Meadville.

Prep outscored Meadville 17-4 in the third quarter en route to the win.

Four Prep players were in double figures scoring, as Tavion Spencer had 15 points, Jake Sambuchino 12, and Semontae Lofton 10.

Jack Burchard had 17 points for Meadville, while Lucas Luteran added 15 and Khalon Simmons 11.

FAIRVIEW 62, NORTH EAST 57

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Archie Murphey poured in 30 points to lift Fairview to a 62-57 win over North East.

John Seyboldt added 15 points for the Tigers in the win.

Owen Kemp had 14 points for North East.

OIL CITY 63, TITUSVILLE 49

OIL CITY, Pa. – Sayyid Donald scored 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as Oil City nabbed a 63-49 win over Titusville.

Oil City went on an 18-2 run in the third quarter en route to the win.

Jake Hornbeck nearly had his second triple-double of the season for OC, which has won eight straight, with 17 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, with Ethen Knox adding 14 points.

Kasen Neely had 17 points and Manny Perez 12 for Titusville.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 71, COMMODORE PERRY 24

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Thorsten Hart scored a game-high 17 points as Kennedy Catholic beat Commodore Perry, 71-24.

Simier Wade added 13 points for Kennedy Catholic, which led 21-12 at the end of the first quarter, while Nick Ondo added 13.

Kyle Stringert had 15 points for Commodore Perry.

GIRARD 68, NORTHWESTERN 33

ALBION, Pa. – Dylan McDonald had 15 points as Girard powered past Northwestern, 68-33.

Nate Edwards added 14 points in the win for Girard.

Landon Wayne had 10 points for Northwestern.

MERCER 60, SHARPSVILLE 43

MERCER, Pa. – Daemyin Mattocks scored 19 points as Mercer earned a 60-43 win over Sharpsville.

Mercer outscored Sharpsville 19-5 in the second quarter on its way to the win.

Tre Miller and Jake Mattocks scored 12 points each for Mercer.

Luke Distler scored 20 points for Sharpsville.

ERIE 51, HARBOR CREEK 45

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Jay Smith scored 15 points to send Erie to a 51-45 win over Harbor Creek.

Brady Rzodkiewicz had 18 points and Nick Krahe 12 for the Huskies.

GENERAL MCLANE 71, FORT LEBOEUF 41

WATERFORD, Pa. – Isaac Zietz had 20 points as General McLane earned a 71-44 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

Jacob Zietz added 14 points for the Lancers.

GREENVILLE 59, WILMINGTON 39

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Greenville raced out to a 23-5 lead after the first quarter on its way to a 59-39 win over Wilmington.

Mason Vannoy led a balanced Greenville effort with 15 points, while Noah Philson added 14 and Logan Lentz 10.

Anthony Reed paced Wilmington with 16 points.

CORRY 59, CONNEAUT 52

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Rylan Smith made seven 3’s on his way to 29 points to send Corry to a 59-52 win over Conneaut.

Shakiir Jordan led Conneaut with 14 points.

LAKEVIEW 64, GEORGE JUNIOR REPUBLIC 48

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Owen Dye scored 18 points as Lakeview earned a 64-48 win over George Junior Republic.

Cody Fagley added 14 points in the win for Lakeview.

Elijah Gist led GJR with 16 points, while Dawan Cruz added 11.

MCDOWELL 67, WARREN 41

ERIE – A 21-point second quarter turned pushed the lead from two to 10 points and gave McDowell all the cushion it needed in a 67-41 win over Warren.

The Trojans had five players finish in double figures in the scoring column, led by Jessica Hetz and McKaela Bennett with 12 each. Mercedes Feranti had 11 points, while Amaiya Nelson and Francesca Russo had 10 apiece.

Alana Stuart paced the Dragons with 15 points.

OIL CITY 60, TITUSVILLE 31

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Emma Stahl scored 12 points as Oil City earned a 60-31 win over Titusville.

Oil City closed the game on a 22-6 run.

Kylee Copley added 11 points for Oil City and Maddy Marczak 10.

Rylie McGarvey had seven points for Titusville.

HICKORY 47, FRANKLIN 33

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Hickory raced out to a 14-2 lead on its way to a 47-33 win over Franklin.

Madison Jones had 13 points, Kimora Roberts 12, and Malana Beach nine for the Hornets.

Estella Adams had 11 points for Franklin, while Katie Boal added nine.

SENECA 43, COCHRANTON 28

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Emma Bleil had 10 points as Seneca topped Cochranton, 43-28.

Lauren Konkol added seven points for Seneca.

Emma Gallo had 14 points to pace Cochranton.

MERCER 41, SLIPPERY ROCK 26

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Mercer outscored Slippery Rock 16-5 in the second quarter on its way to a 41-26 win.

Pressley Washil led Mercer with 13 points and Ava Godrey and McKenna McCandless nine points each.

Leah Double had seven points for Slippery Rock.
