Sheffield Boys Hold Off Brockway; Cranberry Squeaks Past Commodore Perry; ECC Tops DuBois

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Up just six going to the fourth quarter, visiting Sheffield hit 11 of 16 fourth-quarter free throws to pull away from Brockway, 64-52, in AML crossover action.

The Wolverines led 49-43 after 24 minutes of action but watched Leihden Woterson hit 6 of 8 charity shots, Lucas McNeal knock down 3 of 4, and Conner Finch go 2 of 2 from the line to pull away.

It was a big night for Finich, who scored 23 points to lead Sheffield. Fifteen of Finch’s points came in the first half helping the Wolverines to a 33-27 halftime lead.

Wotorson then took over in the second half scoring 16 of his 18 points after halftime.

                                      

McNeal added 15 points, six rebounds, and seven steals in the victory with Finch blocking five shots.

Alex Carlson scored a career-high 27 points for Brockway with Brady Demonte adding seven.

CRANBERRY 48, COMMODORE PERRY 46

HADLEY, Pa. – In a close game throughout, visiting Cranberry held off Commodore Perry, 48-46.

The game was tied at 14 at the end of the first quarter, Cranberry led 28-27 at halftime and 36-35 going to the fourth quarter.

                          

Ashton Weaver had a career-high 20 points for the Berries, including 13 in the first half, with Cole Findlay adding nine points.

Kyle Stringert led all scorers with 24 points for Commodore Perry with Josh Jones chipping in nine points.
RIDGWAY 55, KANE 45

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Aaron Sorg exploded for 26 points to lead Ridgway to a 55-45 home AML crossover victory over Kane.

Alex Merritt added 18 points for the Elkers.

Ricky Zampogna had a career-high 25 points for Kane with Dane Anderson adding 10 points.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 44, DUBOIS 31

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Elk County Catholic earned a split of its season series with DuBois thanks to a 44-31 home D9 League victory.

The game started out slow with ECC taking a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Crusaders heated up in the second eight minutes outscoring DuBois 16-6 to take a 20-6 halftime lead.

It was a well-balanced attack for ECC led by 10 points from Michael Jacobs. Colby Nussbaum added eight points, Jordan Wasko and Adam Straub each scored seven points, and Wil Wortman chipped in with six tallies.

Rudy Williams (15 points) and Tyson Kennis (11 points) accounted for most of the scoring for DuBois.

                                   

BRADFORD 55, ST. MARYS 43

BRADFORD, Pa. – Talen Reese tickled the twine for 19 points to help homestanding Bradford to a 55-43 win over St. Marys in D9 League action.

Jack Franz added nine points for the Owls who also got eight from Chase Wineberg.

Tanner Fox scored 10 for St. Marys with Quin Gavazzi adding eight and Anthony Nedzinski seven.

CAMERON COUNTY 57, SMETHPORT 36

SMETHPORT, Pa., – Cameron County went on the road and got 17 points from Camdyn Allison to pick up a 57-36 win over Smethport in NTL play.

Ryan Shaffer and Josh Smith each added 11 points for the Red Raiders.

Preston Alifieri had a game-high 18 points for Smethport.

OTTO-ELDRED 69, GALETON 15

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Otto-Eldred had no problems at home against visiting Galeton running the Tigers out of the building, 69-15, behind a career-high 23 points from Shene Thomas

Thomas added three steals and two rebounds with Landon Francis contributing 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three rebounds in the victory.

The Terrors had two additional players reach double figures with Brax Caldwell scoring 13 points and Austin Cousins 11.

Ayden Wipple scored six points for Galeton.

PORT ALLEGANY 59, NORTHERN POTTER 21

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Drew Evens had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds while adding three assists, three blocks, and three steals in Port Allegany’s 59-21 home NTL win over Northern Potter.

                                  

The Gators put the game away early building a 23-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and they led 42-13 at halftime.

Braylon Button just missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds while also blocking two shots for Port Allegany with Henry Troupe adding 11 points, two steals, and two assists, Troupe hit three second-quarter 3-pointers.

Also for the Gators, Jarrod Funk had nine points, Blaine Moses contributed seven points, and Noah Archer added four points, three assists, and three steals.

Noah Sherman scored six points for Northern Potter.

COUDERSPORT 65, OSWAYO VALLEY 56

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Reilly Streich scored 22 points, had nine rebounds, and three steals to lead Coudersport past visiting Oswayo Valley, 65-56, in NTL action.

Mason Roessner added 16 points for the Falcons with Micah Batson chipping in 13 points and Dylan Howard 10 tallies.

Cayden Black had a game-high 25 points for Oswayo Valley with Allen Mertsock adding 11 points.

MONITEAU 61, LAUREL 48 

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Three players scored 12 points apiece to lead Moniteau to a 61-43 home win over Laurel.

Colton Thomas, Aydan Jackson, and Andrew Zepeda each scored a dozen points for the Warriors with David Martino adding 11 points and David Dessicino eight points.

Laban Barker had a game-high 23 points for Laurel. He hit five 3-pointers in the game.

KEYSTONE 61, FOREST AREA 22

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Visiting Keystone got 13 points from Cole Henry to roll past Forest Area, 61-22, at East Forest.

Drew Keth added 11 points for the Panthers who also got 10 tallies from Taylor Rupp.

Keyon Custer had eight points for Forest Area with Warren Dashner chipping in six points.

KARNS CITY 64, NORTH CLARION 55

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. – Hobie Bartoe, Taite Beighley, and Jacob Callihan each scored 15 points in a 64-55 road win for Karns City over North Clarion.

Beighley added seven assists and three rebounds with Callihan chipping in eight rebounds.

Branden Grossman added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Gremlins with Micah Rupp chipping in seven points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

Aiden Hartle had a game-high 23 points for North Clarion with Zeelan Hargenrader adding 10 points.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 78, UNION 60

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Alex Painter had a career-high 19 points to go with four steals as homestanding Clarion-Limestone beat Union, 78-60.

Jordan Hesdon added 14 points for the Lions with Jack Callen adding 13 points and Rylie Klingensmith 10.

Jase Ferguson also had three points, seven steals, five assists, and four rebounds in the victory.

Payton Johnston had 19 points for Union with Trey Fleming adding eight points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

BROOKVILLE 57, REDBANK VALLEY 34

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Jumping out to a 30-8 lead late into the first half, Brookville pulled away for a 57-34 non-league win over Redbank Valley on Senior Night.

The Raiders, winners of 12 straight games, led 32-12 at halftime and by as many as 23 twice in the fourth quarter, including the final margin.

Senior Clayton Cook and junior Jack Pete scored 14 and 13 points respectively with seven of those Pete points coming in the first-half run that saw the Raiders turn a 6-5 lead into the 30-8 advantage with a 24-3 run. Pete finished off a double-double with 10 rebounds. Cook had seven rebounds. Sophomore Kellan Haines scored nine points.

Redbank Valley did get it back to within 13 after a Kieran Fricko basket to make it 38-25 with under two minutes left in the third quarter, but that’s as close as the Bulldogs got. Mason Clouse and Breckin Minich each scored eight points. The Bulldogs were playing their second straight game without leading scorer Owen Clouse, who is out with an injury.
