SHARON, Pa. – Mark Cattron was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to end the game, capping a big rally for Sharon to beat Franklin, 10-9 in eight innings.

The Tigers trailed the Knights 9-3 going into the bottom of the seventh, scoring seven times to send the game to extras.

Cattron had singled in the seventh to get the Tigers within two at 9-7, which was followed by three consecutive walks and a hit batter by Franklin pitching to tie things up.

Franklin had scored four runs in both the third and fifth innings to take a 9-2 advantage.

Ethan Englemore tossed two innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts for Sharon to get the win.

YOUNGSVILLE 14, EISENHOWER 4

RUSSELL, Pa. – Youngsville scored in five of seven innings, and David Manning threw four strong as the Eagles picked up a 14-4 win over Eisenhower.

Rewatch the game:

Youngsville struck for three in the first. James Johnson hit a leadoff double, then scored two outs later when Keegan Mesel reached on an error. Manning followed with an RBI single, then scored on a passed ball to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

The Eagles added four more in the second. After three straight walks loaded the bases, Wyatt Dalrymple scored when Matt DiSimone grounded into a fielder’s choice. Nathan Lucks followed with a 2-run single, and Mesel’s RBI single made it 7-0.

“Our hitters can hit real good and our defense is pretty decent,” Manning said. “Our pitching is going to be excellent this year. I think we have a chance to make it to the playoffs this year.”

See Manning’s full interview:

Cole Kellogg reached on an error to start the bottom of the third. Shawn Pascuzzi’s RBI single with two outs brought Kellogg home to cut the deficit to 7-1.

That was the only run Manning allowed through his four innings of work. He gave up just two hits, walked three, and struck out five.

“David Manning threw exceptionally well,” Youngsville coach Eddie Dorunda said. “He pounds the zone with (his fastball) to get ahead and has a nasty curve that’s tough to hit even when the hitters know it’s coming. He signed up to play last minute this season, I begged him to play because I knew how much he would help us. He’s going to throw a lot of innings for us.”

Youngsville put up another 4-spot in the sixth. With one out, DiSimone reached on an error, stole second, and moved to third on a passed ball. Lucks followed with a walk and, seeing that the defense wasn’t focused on him, rounded first on a sprint to second. DiSimone came home as the throw to second went into centerfield.

“I’ve always been aggressive on the base paths but it was definitely something I knew we would take advantage of today,” Dorunda said. “Coach (DJ) Rose has been working with them in practice the last couple weeks with taking aggressive leads and getting good jumps so that’s been huge. The majority of these kids have played for me the past two seasons so they know how aggressive I want to be, they are basically begging me to give them the green light every time they get on base.”

Lucks scored when Manning reached on an error. Ian Mancuso reached on an infield single to put runners on the corners. Manning scored on a passed ball, then Mancuso did the same a few pitches later to give Youngsville a 12-1 advantage.

Eisenhower kept the game going with three runs in the bottom of the inning. With one out, Derek Childs and Brok English reached on errors to put runners on the corners. JJ Darr followed with a walk to load the bases, and Cole Kellogg drew a walk to score Childs. One out later, Cam Jakubczak ripped a 2-run single into right to score English and Darr and cut the lead to 12-4.

Youngsville answered with a pair in the top of the seventh. Ethan Senz hit a 1-out single and Johnson was hit by a pitch to put two runners on. Senz scored on DiSimone’s sac fly, and Johnson came home on Lucks’ RBI double.
