Seneca (1A), Fairview (2A) Claim D10 Boys’ Soccer Championships

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Josiah ZaSada’s hat trick led the way as Seneca rolled past Wilmington, 6-1 to win the District 10 Class 1A boys’ soccer title.

ZaSada scored one goal in the first half as Seneca built a 3-0 lead and two more in the second half.

Lucas Hoffman had a goal in each half for the Bobcats, while Brady Seaboldt had Seneca’s other goal.

Collin Hill scored for Wilmington in the early stages of the second half to make the score 3-1 before Seneca rattled off three more goals.

With the win, Seneca advances to play the WPIAL champion, either Charleroi or Bentworth (they play on Friday) in the first round of the PIAA championships on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

ERIE, Pa. – Jackson Chiocco’s penalty kick goal with 30 minutes to play in regulation broke a 1-1 tie and proved to be the game-winner, as Fairview won the District 10 Class 2A boys’ title, 2-1 over General McLane.

Cooper Robson had scored off a pass from Gio Masone to tie the game for General McLane just a minute earlier.

Daniel Linedberger’s first half goal had staked Fairview to a 1-0 lead.

                          

The champion Tigers will now face Shady Side Academy, the No. 3 team from the WPIAL, in the first round of the PIAA playoffs on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

McLane, meanwhile, will meet WPIAL champion South Park.
