KANE 10, BROCKWAY 5

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Dane Anderson, Luke Ely, and Isaiah Smith all drove in runs as Kane earned a 10-5 win over Brockway.

Kane built a 5-0 lead after three innings and led 10-3 going to the bottom of the seventh.

The Wolves also took advantage of three Brockway errors and seven walks issued by Rover pitchers.

Isaya Miller went 2-for-3 with three runs scored for Kane.

Elijah Evertt tossed three shutout innings to get the win. He didn’t allow a hit, struck out three, and walked two.

Dylan Bash was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for Brockway.

Bash took the loss allowing five runs (two earned) in five innings. He allowed five hits, walked one, and struck out four.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 11, WEST SHAMOKIN 0, 5 innings

RURAL VALLEY, Pa. – Jayden Siwiecki and Braden Murray drove in two runs each as Clarion-Limestone earned an 11-0 win over West Shamokin in its season opener.

The Lions had 15 hits, with eight of the nine starters recording at least one.

C-L, which scored in every inning, also got two doubles, an RBI, and three runs from Logan Lutz, Jordy Hesdon had three hits and an RBI. Tommy Smith was also 2-for-4 with an RB and Aiden Coulson was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Smith was dominant on the mound, going four shutout innings, striking out nine, and allowing just two hits. Lutz tossed a shutout inning as well, striking out the side.

FAIRVIEW 5, OIL CITY 3

OIL CITY, Pa. – Caleb Szklenski had two RBIs and also got the win in relief as Fairview topped Oil City 5-3 in its opener.

Colin Bolla started the game on the mound for Fairview, allowing one unearned run in 3 ⅓ innings on one hit, striking out seven.

Austin Hawley went 2-for-3 for Fairview, while Vinny Campoli was 1-for-4 with an RBI, and Will Fessler and Adam Skelly also drove in a run each.

Charlie Motter went 2-for-4 with a double for Oil City, while Colby Ryback had two RBIs.

      

Jacob Teeter took the loss, going five innings and allowing four runs on five hits, striking out six and walking four.

TITUSVILLE 13, NORTH EAST 4

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Titusville scored 10 runs in the sixth inning to beat North East, 13-4.

The inning began with an RBI double from Kam Mong and ended with a Drew Wheeling hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded. When the dust settled, Titusville led 12-1.

Landon Baker and Mason Titus drove in two runs each for the Rockets, who took advantage of six North East errors.

Kam Mong got the win, allowing one run on one hit in 2 ⅔ innings, striking out four and walking three.

Reid Courtwright had an RBI double for North East, while Troy Gallbreath drove in a pair of runs.

SOFTBALL

BROCKWAY 15, KANE 11

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Trailing 8-5, Brockway scored five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to rally for a 15-11 win over Kane.

Meeca Smith led the way for Brockway, going 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Taylor was 1-for-2 and scored four runs for the Rovers, while Savannah Ross scored three runs and had two RBIs.

Brockway took advantage of 13 free passes issued by Kane pitching in the win.

Gabby Hertel got the win, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits, striking out 10, and walking six.

Maya Smith had a big game in the loss for Kane, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two triples, six RBIs, and two runs. Leah Tigani was also 3-for-5 with two triples, three RBIs, and two runs.

Addi Lantz took the loss, allowing seven runs, only one of which was earned, in two innings, allowing two hits and five walks while striking out a pair.

UNION CITY 9, COCHRANTON 1

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Cathryn Reynolds, Lucy Higley, and Alissa Leech had two RBIs each as Union City opened the season with a 9-1 win over Cochranton.

Alyssa Tingley got the win, tossing four shutout innings.

NORTH EAST 14, ERIE 5

NORTH EAST, Pa. – North East scored all 14 of its runs in the first three innings, including seven in the third in a 14-5 win over Erie.

Alaina Rodemoyer and Alex Cozzens had three hits each for North East, while Cozzens and Maisy Post had two RBIs each.

Cozzens got the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit in four innings, striking out eight.

Ashley Rose, Aleah Warnshuis, and Shatiana Albelo had one RBI each for Erie.

NESHANNOCK 10, HICKORY 0, 6 innings

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Hickory had a tough open to its season, falling to defending PIAA Class 2A champion Neshannock, 10-0 in six innings.

Gabrielle Quinn homered and drove in two runs, while Aralyn Nogay also homered and Katherine Nativio also drove in two runs.

Addyson Frye got the win, allowing just one hit and striking out 11 without issuing a walk.

Layla McClung had the lone hit for Hickory, while Loren Myers took the loss.
