Harbor Creek Girls Hand Greenville First Loss; Fairview Girls Get Big Win; Fourth-Quarter Surge Sends Erie Boys Past Warren Jan. 12, 2023

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Brooke Przybylski netted 24 points as Harbor Creek handed Greenville its first loss of the season, 57-38.

                  

Harbor Creek built a 17-3 lead after the first quarter en route to the win.

Elize Benim was also in double figures for Harbor Creek with 13 points, while Georgia Weber added eight points.

Anna Harpst led Greenville with 12 points, while Josie Lewis added 11.

FAIRVIEW 43, ERIE 30

                                      

ERIE, Pa. – Fairview outscored Erie 29-14 in the second half on its way to a 43-30 victory.

Hope Garrity led the way for Fairview with 15 points, while Bre Heidt added 12 and Sara Gennuso eight.

Deeaja Williams led Erie with nine points.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 49, COCHRANTON 19

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Makenzie Yanc nearly had a triple-double with 10 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as Cambridge Springs earned a 49-19 win over Cochranton.

                          

Yanc also had five steals, while Finley Rauscher had nine points and seven rebounds, Jordyn Wheeler eight points and Hailee Rodgers seven points.

Macie Williams had five points for Cochranton.

UNION CITY 46, YOUNGSVILLE 40, overtime

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Brooke VanTassel scored 15 points as Union City earned a 46-40 overtime win over Youngsville.

Cathryn Reynolds had 14 points for Union City, while Lucy Higley added seven points.

Youngsville’s Riley Robinault had a big game, scoring 23 points.

LAKEVIEW 41, WEST MIDDLESEX 37

STONEBORO, Pa. – Lakeview outscored West Middlesex 6-2 in overtime to claim a 41-37 win.

West Middlesex rallied from a 15-7 halftime deficit to force overtime.

Kesley Seddon led Lakeview with 13 points, while Kyndra Seddon and Emma Marsteller added 10 points each.

                                   

Emma Mild scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half for West Middlesex, while Caitlin Stephens scored 14 points (13 in the second half).

CONNEAUT 66, MEADVILLE 22

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Lainie Harrington had 19 points, five assists, and five steals as Conneaut earned a 66-22 win over Meadville.

Hannah Brady also had a big game with 18 points, five rebounds and two steals, while Courtney Perrye had nine points and Hannah Poff had five rebounds and three steals.

Marlaya McCoy had 12 points for Meadville.

GROVE CITY 55, HICKORY 36

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Piper Como and Delaney Callihan scored 17 points each to lead Grove City to a 55-36 win over Hickory.

Callihan scored 13 of her points in the first half and Como 12 of her points in the second half.

Kaelyn Fustos and Kimora Roberts scored 11 points each for Hickory.

WARREN 59, FRANKLIN 29

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Peyton Wotorson scored 17 points as Warren powered past Franklin, 59-29.

Warren built an 18-4 lead after the first quarter en route to the win.

Sammie Ruhlman and Emily Foster netted 10 points each for the Lady Dragons, while Alyssa Farr added seven.

Jenn Blum had 10 points for Franklin.

MAPLEWOOD 51, SAEGERTOWN 24

                                  

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Maplewood built a 29-10 halftime lead on its way to a 51-24 win over Saegertown.

Sadie Thomas led a balanced Maplewood effort with 12 points, while Savannah O’Hara netted 10 points and Madison Eimer nine.

Hailee Gregor and Maggie Triola had eight points each for Saegertown.

EISENHOWER 58, IROQUOIS 20

RUSSELL, Pa. – Clara Steinberg led a balanced effort with 15 points as Eisenhower earned a 58-20 win over Iroquois.

Lainey Font and Bella Marino each knocked down a pair of 3’s and finished with 12 and 10 points, respectively for the Lady Knights.

Gracie Belfiore led Iroquois with six points.

OIL CITY 49, CORRY 35

OIL CITY, Pa. – Oil City closed the game on a 17-9 run to earn a 49-35 win over Corry.

Emma Stahl and Maddy Marczak had 11 points each for the Oilers, while Peyton Liederbach added eight.

Tayler Elchynski had 12 points to lead Corry, while Alyssa Burlew added 10 points.

MERCER 40, REYNOLDS 14

TRANSFER, Pa. – Peyton Washil scored 13 points as Mercer earned a 40-14 win over Reynolds.

Ashlynn Heckathorne added 10 points in the win for Mercer.

Ava Murcko had four points for Reynolds.

WILMINGTON 45, SHARON 31

SHARON, Pa. – Lia Krarup scored 18 points as Wilmington pushed past Sharon, 45-31.

Reese Bruckner was also in double figures for Wilmington with 12 points.

Daryonna Nixon and Lacey Root led Sharon with eight points apiece.

SHARPSVILLE 47, SLIPPERY ROCK 24

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Lily Palko poured in 19 points as Sharpsvilled topped Slippery Rock, 47-24.

The Blue Devils built a 32-10 halftime lead en route to the win.

Paige Messett and Chasie Fry had eight points each for Sharpsville.

Molly Bissell led Slippery Rock with seven points.

CATHEDRAL PREP 65, FORT LEBOEUF 14

ERIE, Pa. – Jayden McBride led a balanced effort with 15 points as Cathedral Prep earned a 65-14 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

Tori Mayes netted 13 points for the Ramblers, while Addie Biel and Lena Walz added eight points each.

Jillian Soder had six points for Fort LeBoeuf.

FARRELL 46, JAMESTOWN 20

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Gabby King scored 20 points as Farrell earned a 46-20 win over Jamestown.

Farrell led 23-0 after the first quarter.

Damerra Thomas and Janiya Daniels had nine points each for Farrell.

Alayna Cadman had 11 points for Jamestown.

MCDOWELL 54, GENERAL MCLANE 22

ERIE, Pa. – Caylen Spano scored 15 points as McDowell earned a 54-22 win over General McLane.

Jessica Hetz added 13 points for McDowell in the win.

Libby Opp had eight points for GM.

MERCYHURST PREP 59, TITUSVILLE 6

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Olivia Kulyk scored 16 points as Mercyhurst Prep netted a 59-6 win over Titusville.

Saide Messer added 11 points for the Lakers.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 80, COMMODORE PERRY 7

HADLEY, Pa. – Bella Magestro and Layke Fields combined for 43 points as Kennedy Catholic earned an 80-7 win over Commodore Perry.

Magestro netted 23 points and FIelds 20, while Isabella Bianco added 10.

NORTHWESTERN 45, GIRARD 19

ALBION, Pa. – McKayla Presser-Palmer scored 18 points as Northwestern earned a 45-19 win over Girard.

Peyton Kalicky had six points for Girard.

ERIE 75, WARREN 62

WARREN, Pa. – A 24-point fourth quarter broke the game open as Erie earned a 75-62 non-region win at Warren.

The teams were even through three quarters at 51-51. A 9-2 run midway through the fourth put the Royals on top 63-56. The Dragons cut the deficit to five, 65-60, with 2:47 to play. Layveon Gore’s layup started a game-ending 10-2 run for Erie.

“(We were) able to stop people going to the rim, get boards, and get good shots on offense,” Gore said of the Royals’ fourth quarter.

Gore scored eight of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter and was a force on the boards all night as he earned Icyy Ink Player of the Game powered by the Allegheny Grille honors. Gore and Jay Smith combined to score 31 of Erie’s 40 first-half points.

Erie held a slim, 20-18 advantage after the first quarter. Parks Ordiway and Braylon Barnes combined for 15 of Warren’s 22 second-quarter points as the Dragons pulled even at 40-40 heading to halftime.

Both teams cooled a bit to start the second half as they each scored just 11 points in the third quarter.

Smith finished with 17 points and Andreas McCollum added 15 for the Royals.

Ordiway had a team-high 19 points for the Dragons. Barnes had 14, Tommy Nyquist 11, and Brady Berdine 10.

SHARPSVILLE 44, WILMINGTON 22

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Braden Scravel scored 18 points as Sharpsville earned a 45-22 win over Wilmington.

The Blue Devils went on a 12-2 run in the third quarter to break open a one-point game.

Luke Staunch added six points for Sharpsville.

Anthony Reed had eight points for Wilmington.
