DuBois Beats Obama Academy in Subregional Semifinal; Beavers Qualify for PIAA Playoffs

CLARION, Pa. – Outscoring Obama Academy 15-4 in the fourth quarter, DuBois picked up a 44-37 win over the Eagles in a District 8-9-10 Class 5A subregional semifinal game at PennWest Clarion’s Tippin Gym.

The win qualifies the Beavers for the PIAA playoffs. Friday’s game with District 10 champion Cathedral Prep will determine whether that is a home game or a road game for DuBois.

The Beavers trailed 33-29 going to the fourth quarter but rode the hot hand of Tyson Kennis in the fourth quarter.

Kennis scored nine of his game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter.

                                      

Rudy Williams added seven points for the Beavers while Aiden West and Maddox Bennett each scored six points. All six of Bennett’s came on two first-quarter 3-pointers.

Seth Swalll paced Obama Academy with 10 points with Xavier Rodgers and Torrien Perkins each scoring eight points
