Sept. 28, 2020 Soccer Recaps: Karns City girls get big win; Warren remains perfect

KARNS CITY, Pa. – McKenna Martin and Ally Fennell both scored to send Karns City to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Redbank Valley.

Martin also had an assist for the Gremlins, while Rhiannon Laughlin scored on a penalty kick with two minutes remaining for Redbank Valley.

WARREN 10, MAPLEWOOD 0

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Kyleigh Wilson continued her torrid scoring pace as Warren remained perfect with a 10-0 win over Maplewood.

Wilson scored four goals in the Dragon victory, while George Bickling connected for two and Lauren Anderson, Paige Johnson, Ella Ordiway and Kyra Wotorson had one apiece.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 6, WEST MIDDLESEX 1

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Bellah DiNardo notched a hat trick to lead Kennedy Catholic to a 6-1 win over West Middlesex.

Sophie Lombardi had two goals in the win and Julianne Johnson one. Gigi Lepore got the win in goal.

ST. MARYS 4, KANE 1

KANE, Pa. – Jessica Buhl scored for Kane, but it wasn’t enough in a 4-1 setback to St. Marys.

FORT LEBOEUF 3, GIRARD 0

GIRARD, Pa. – Elise Cacchione scored two goals and added an assist as Fort LeBoeuf topped Girard.

Maggie Morrison also had a goal for the winners.

NORTH EAST 6, CORRY 0

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Elizabeth Svetz notched a hat trick, leading North East past Corry.

Catherine Britt, Gracie Victory and Abby Penrod also scored for the Grape Pickers.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 3, EISENHOWER 1

RUSSELL, Pa. – Makenzie Yanc scored a pair of goals to help Cambridge Springs past Eisenhower.

Madalyn Zook also scored for the Blue Devils, while Leah Peterson scored for the Knights.

VILLA MARIA 9, ERIE 0

ERIE, Pa. – Mackenzie Fletcher, Alexa Tojaga and Ella Raimondi scored two goals each as Villa beat Erie High.

Reese Weismiller, Lauren Baloga and Ella Seifert also scored for the Victors.

SENECA 1, IROQUOIS 0

LAWRENCE PARK, Pa. – Sam Hartman scored the lone goal to lift Seneca past Iroquois.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 11, FOREST AREA 1

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Beau Verdill had a monster game with five goals, three of which were assisted by Bailee Verdill, sending C-L to an 11-1 win over Forest Area.

Donnie Cunningham and Peyton Smith assisted on the other two goals, and Austin Coull scored on an assist Beau Verdill.

Cunningham (Cody Whitling assist), Blaise Cunningham (Nate Megnin assist), Ryker Bingham (unassisted), Mengnin (Bingham) and Whitling (Bailee Verdill) also scored for the Lions.

ST. MARYS 6, KANE 3

KANE, Pa.  – Dillon Illerbrun, Josh Greville and Jon Mishic all scored for Kane, but it was St. Marys that doubled up the host Wolves, 6-3.

HICKORY 10, WEST MIDDLESEX 0

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Brady Robison scored four goals as Hickory blanked West Middlesex, 10-0.

Tony Giuseppucci and Paul Morelli scored two each for Hickory, while Nick Scarvel and Michael Orendi added one each.
