Sept. 23, 2020 VB: Burns Has Monster Match as Clarion Beats Maplewood

CLARION 3, MAPLEWOOD 1

MAPLEWOOD, Pa. – In a battle of two of the top programs in the state, visiting Clarion got an unbelievable match from junior Korrin Burns in a 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 25-15, 25-22) win over Maplewood.

Burns recorded 30 kills while hitting .310 and adding 14 digs and two aces.

Erica Selfridge helped in the victory with 19 kills and 19 digs while hitting .341, and Aryana Girvin chipped in seven kills and five digs.

            

Brenna Campbell ran the Lady Cats offense with 54 set assists and completed a double-double with 14 digs while adding two kills and an ace. Jordan Best also had 14 digs, and Noel Anthony added nine digs.

Chloe Leech had 21 kills and four aces for Maplewood with Sadie Thomas adding 14 kills and 14 digs and Madison Crawford 18 digs. Bailey Varndell ran the offense with 38 set assists.

GALETON 3, BRADFORD 1

BRADFORD, Pa. – Alli Macensky recorded 10 kills, a block and a dig to lead visiting Galeton to a 3-1 (25-12, 23-25, 25-16, 25-16) win at Bradford.

Alexis Johnson added eight kills, three digs and two aces for the Lady Tigers, while Oliva Rohrbaugh had seven kills and three digs and Lauren Sauley six kills, 12 digs, seven aces and 11 set assists. Mikayla Schott chipped in eight digs.

                          

Alix Ordiway had eight kills for Bradford with Alex Asp adding six kills and three blocks and Jessica Fox 16 set assists and two kills.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, OTTO-ELDRED 0

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Gabby Weisner had six kills and seven aces and Haley Baron also recorded six kills to lead Elk County Catholic to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-19) win over visiting Otto-Eldred.

Maddie Marzzulo added four kills and two blocks with Tami Geci chipping 22 digs. Moira Stanisch ran the offense with 19 set assists and added three aces and two kills.
