Sept. 23, 2020 Soccer/Golf Recaps: Warren, Cathedral Prep Among Group of Shutout Winners

WARREN, Pa. – Parks Ordiway scored a pair of goals to help Warren to a 4-0 victory over Titusville.

JT Blum and Patrick Heffern also scored for the Dragons, while Wes Kiehl dished out three assists. Jack Darling also added an assist.

CATHEDRAL PREP 5, ERIE 0

ERIE, Pa. – Dan Harrington scored a pair of goals as Cathedral Prep blanked Erie, 5-0.

Jack Foht, Sam Louie and Reece Johnson also scored for the Ramblers.

GIRARD 7, CORRY 1

CORRY, Pa. – Ethan Gimber and Ethan Fennell scored two goals each as Girard beat Corry.

Ryan Snyder and Andy Jones also scored for the Yellow Jackets.

HICKORY 3, GREENVILLE 0

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Tony Giuseppucci scored a pair of goals to send Hickory past Greenville.

Brady Robison also found the back of the net for the Hornets. All three goals came in the first half.

MERCYHURST PREP 8, FORT LEBOEUF 0

WATERFORD, Pa. – John Kerner and Jarrett Harry scored three goals each to help Mercyhurst Prep ease past Fort LeBoeuf.

MEADVILLE 2, CONNEAUT 1

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Alex Link and Alex Wood scored for Meadville to send them to a 2-1 win over Conneaut.

NORTH EAST 4, SENECA 1

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Josh Makin scored a pair of goals to help North East past Seneca.

Kaiden Lanagan also scored for the Pickers.

GIRLS

HUNTINGDON 4, CLEARFIELD 3

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Sydney Sellers scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute, sending Huntingdon to a 4-3 victory over Clearfield.

It was a fast-paced first half, with Clearfield taking a 3-2 lead thanks to goals from Elle Smith (2) and Emma Hipps. Riley Ryen and Hipps had assists.

Huntingdon tied the game in the 49th minute on a goal from Amanda Gwinn.

Simone Bilich made 12 stops for Huntingdon and Cayleigh Walker seven for Clearfield.

         

GIRLS GOLF

UNION CITY, Pa. – Mercyhurst Prep’s Joce Ollinger was one of four golfers to qualify for the District 10 championships at the D-10 girls golf qualifier at Union City on Wednesday.

Ollinger shot a 51, while Janessa Vaughn of Harbor Creek (54) and teammate Katie Lucas (58) also qualified. Mercyhurst Prep’s Katie Caryl also qualified but Mercyhurst Prep already had the D-10 maximum of four qualifiers.
