Sept. 19, 2020 Soccer Recaps: Clearfield, Warren, Villa record shutouts

HYDE, Pa. – Elle Smith had yet another 4-goal game as Clearfield blanked Philipsburg-Osceola, 7-0.

Riley Ryen, Emma Hipps and Lydia Brown also scored for the Bison, who led 3-0 at halftime. Two of Smith’s goals came off a direct kick and penalty kick.

Ryen, Hipps, Brown, Taylor Hudson and Smith all added assist.

Paige Russell had 15 stops for P-O, while Cayleigh Walker didn’t see a shot on goal for Clearfield.

WARREN 2, EISENHOWER 0

WARREN, Pa. – Kyleigh Wilson scored less than a minute into the game and Kyra Wotorson late in the first half as Warren topped Eisenhower 2-0.

Alyssa Anderson earned the shutout in net for the Dragons, while Lilee Renninger made double-digit stops for the Lady Knights.

VILLA MARIA 2, MERCYHURST PREP 0

ERIE, Pa. – Second-half goals by Reese Weismiller and Ella Raimondi scored second-half goal to lift the Victors to win in a battle of two of District 10’s top programs.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 2, KANE 1

KANE, Pa. – Gina Carnovale scored on a PK in the first half for ECC and Madisyn Hetrick scored in the second half to send the Lady Crusaders to a 2-1 win.

Sadie Walter scored for Kane.

KARNS CITY 7, DUBOIS 3

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Emma Dailey had three goals and one assist and McKenna Martin two goals and two assists to lead Karns City past DuBois.

Abby Callihan and Ally Fennel also scored the Gremlins.

MAPLEWOOD 4, OIL CITY 1

OIL CITY, Pa. – Savannah O’Hara scored a pair of goals as Maplewood beat Oil City, 4-1.

Maya Marshall and McKenzie Means also scored for the Tigers.

BOYS

BRADFORD 5, ST. MARYS 4

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Mitchell Strauss scored the game-winning goal in the 76th minute to lift Bradford to a thrilling 5-4 win over St. Marys.

That helped the Owls overcome a big game from St. Marys’ Matthew Palmer, who notched a hat trick in defeat.

Gavin McGee and Andrew Kane both scored twice for the Owls. Vinciciuz Nunez had the Dutch’s other goal.

           

Alex Rimer made eight saves in net for the Owls and Aidan McKay six for the Dutch.

HICKORY 4, GROVE CITY 3, OT

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Brady Robison scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in overtime to lift Hickory to a 4-3 win over Grove City.

Paul Morelli and Michael Orendi scored one each for the Eagles.

KANE 5, NORTHERN POTTER 1

ULYSSES, Pa. – Aidan Market, John Feikls, Josh Greville, Dillon Illerbrun and Alex Huckabone all scored to send Kane past Northern Potter.

Isaac Smith, Feikls and Cole Walker had assists, while Huckabone and Caleb White combined for four saves in net for the winners. Pat Lehman had eight saves for NoPo, which scored on an own goal.
