BROCKWAY, Pa. – Selena Buttery and Taylor Rhed recorded singles victories, while the teams of Buttery and Morgan Pirow and Emily Michalski and Maci Dixon notched doubles wins to lead Brockway to a 4-3 win over DuBois.
Per Brockway coach Steve Buttery, this was the first time that the Rovers have beaten the Beavers in at least nine years.
Buttery won at No. 1 singles over DuBois’ Stephanie Jaurez, 6-1, 6-3. Rhed, meanwhile outlasted Olivia Reed in three sets at No. 3 singles.
At No. 2 singles, Grace Askey topped Pirow, 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 4 singles, Lydia Dixon was a winner in two sets.
All three doubles matches were 8-6, capped by the winner from Michalski and Dixon.
“It was a close match and all seniors got into the lineup today,” said DuBois coach Lori Sabatose. “With Jess Askey out of the singles lineup, I was pleased with the singles performance. I didn’t repeat my top four players aside from Grace Askey. So to get nine players in and be so close was an achievement.”
