Sept. 12, 2022 VB Recaps: West Middlesex’s Stephens Hits 1,000 Career Assists Records 48 in Win; Port Tops Smethport

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Caitlin Stephens set a career-high with 48 set assists while going over 1,000 career assists, as West Middlesex out battled Grove City for a 3-2 (25-10, 25-18, 24-26, 23-25, 17-15) home win.

Stephens, only a junior, completed a double-double with 11 digs.

Kennedy Beatty, meanwhile, also had a monster match for the Big Red with 26 kills while hitting an astounding .833. She added four aces and four blocks.

Also for West Middlesex, Emma Mild had eight kills, seven digs, and five aces, Alaina Bowers chipped in nine kills and nine digs, Izzy D’Onofrio had 10 digs, and Avery Hanahan contributed seven digs.

PORT ALLEGANY 3, SMETHPORT 0

            

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Madeline Smith had nine kills, 11 digs, and six aces to help Port Allegany to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-12) win at Smethport.

Ella Moses chipped in eight kills and two blocks for the Lady Gators, while Leigha Nelson ran the offense with 18 set assists.

Kaylee Swanson had five kills and eight digs for Smethport with Baylee Fitzsimmons chipping in nine digs, an assist, and two kills. Madi Faes had eight set assists.

OTTO-ELDRED 3, NORTHERN POTTER 0

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Behind the play of Katie Sheeler and Carrie Drummond, Otto-Eldred rolled past visiting Northern Potter, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-13).

                          

Sheeler had eight kills, six digs, and a block with Drummond recording a match-high nine kills to go with two aces and two digs.

Kate Rhinehart chipped in six kills for the Lady Terrors who also got four kills from Sarah Beaver.

Sarah Risser paced Northern Potter with three kills, Reagan Slawson had four digs, eight set assists, and two kills, and Molly Cady added two kills and two blocks.

SAEGERTOWN 3, GENERAL MCLANE 1

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Brywn McLaughlin had 15 kills to lead Saegertown to a 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 20-25, 25-21) win over visiting General McLane.

Lyndzee Amory added seven kills for the Panthers with Hallee Gregor chipping in four kills and two blocks.

Kylie Braymer was the star on defense with 17 digs with Camryn Trzeciak adding nine digs and Alyssa Arblaster eight.

Lindsey Grecco ran the offense for Saegertown with 30 set assists and served four aces.

Lilli Mook paced General McLane with 14 kills, 12 digs, and three aces. Bailey Cannon added nine kills, six digs, and two aces, Elaine Corwin had seven kills, 13 digs, two blocks, and two aces, and Emily Wismer chipped in five kills and an ace.

Rachel LeSuer also added 12 digs for the Lancers with Abby Ball running the offense with 34 set assists.

                        

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3, UNION 0

DUBOIS, Pa. – Behind seven kills and three aces from Jessy Frank DuBois Central Catholic swept visiting Union, 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-19)

Kennedy Voglehad four kills for Union with Katie Gezik adding two aces.

COCHRANTON 3, EISENHOWER 0

         

RUSSELL, Pa. – Eve Pfeiffer had seven kills to help visiting Cochranton to a 3-0 (25-4, 25-11, 25-9) win over Eisenhower.

Devyn Sokol and Marley Rodax each added four kills and Sokol also served 13 aces, and Macie Williams ran the offense for the Cardinals with 17 set assists.

KEYSTONE 3, CLARION-LIMESTONE 0

KNOX, Pa. – Behind a big match from Leah Exley, Keystone topped Clarion-Limestone, 3-0 (28-26, 25-17, 25-23) in Knox.

Exley had 21 digs as the Lady Panthers used strong defense to get the victory.

Reagan Mays also added 13 digs while contributing 11 set assists, and Natalie Bowser had five kills, four blocks, and seven set assists.

Ansley Burke, Alyssa Wiant, and Jenna Dunn each had seven kills for a balanced C-L offense with Sarah Bottaro chipping in five kills. Abby Knapp led the Lady Lions’ defense with 16 digs, and Kaylee Smith ran the offense with 26 set assists.

Unbeaten Keystone (4-0) will meet unbeaten Clarion (2-0) in Clarion Tuesday in a match that will be broadcast on the YDL Sports Network/D9and10Sports.com.

JAMESTOWN 3, PORTERSVILLE CHRISTIAN 1

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Morgan Bercus had eight kills and 10 digs to help Jamestown vanquish visiting Portersville Christian, 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 25-23).

Madilyn Enterline added six kills, 34 digs, and an ace for the Muskies with Josie Pfaff serving six aces to go with seven digs. Taylor Keener also had six aces and seven digs and ran the offense with nine set assists.

OSWAYO VALLEY 3, AUSTIN 1

AUSTIN, Pa. – Avaree Kellert had 22 kills, seven digs, two aces, blocks, and two set assists as Oswayo Valley went on the road and beat Austin, 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-13).

Praylan Perkins added 13 kills, 16 digs, and two aces for the Green Wave, MaKenna Manning had three kills and a block, and Trinity Lund was killer at the service line with 13 service aces while adding a kill and 30 set assists.

Isabela Rees paced Austin with 10 kills and two blocks with Jade Williams adding seven kills and four aces. Ella Brewer led the Lady Panthers on defense with 25 digs, and Marah Fowler ran the offense with 21 set assists.

REYNOLDS 3, COMMODORE PERRY 0

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Rylee Gearhart had eight kills, four digs, two aces, a block, and a set assist to help Reynolds to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-22) home win over Commodore Perry.

Ava Murcko and Addie Floch each added four kills with Murcko also recording four digs, three aces, and a block, and Floch two aces.

Kylie McAdoo was strong on defense with seven digs and also served two aces for the Raiders, and Annie Loposky ran the offense with 15 set assists and four aces.

REDBANK VALLEY 3, PUNXSUTAWNEY 1

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Alivia Huffman recorded a double-double of 11 kills and 18 digs, as Redbank Valley survived a slugfest at Punxsutawney, 3-1 (18-25, 27-27, 25-21, 30-28).

Izzy Bond chipped in six kills and 12 digs with Caylen Rearick leading the defense with 26 digs while adding seven aces. Mylee Harmon also had a double-double with 21 set assists and 12 digs.

Ciara Toven and Samantha Griebel had big matches for Punxsutawney.

Griebel led the Lady Chucks with 11 kills and 24 digs while adding two aces with Toven also reaching double digits in kills with 10 while serving five aces.

Sydney Hoffman also had 24 digs for Punxsutawney with Lexie Poole adding nine digs. Danielle Griebel ran the offense for the Lady Chucks with 30 set assists while adding 13 digs and two aces.

FORT LEBOEUF 3, ERIE 0

ERIE, Pa. – Visiting Fort LeBoeuf got eight kills, five digs, and four aces from Katelynn Olmstead in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-12) win over Erie High.

Kayleigh Anderson added six kills, four digs, and two aces in the win while Kylie Peters had five kills.

Mackenzie Galdon (13 set assists, 3 digs, 2 kills) and Tessa Bellis (11 set assists, 4 digs, 1 ace) ran the offense for the Bison, and Becky Whitman and Bella Johnson each contributed six digs with Whitman also serving three aces.

CLEARFIELD 3, BROOKVILLE 0

HYDE, Pa. – Ruby Singleton recorded 13 kills and two aces to lift Clearfield to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-20) home win over Brookville.

Gabby Henry added seven kills and four aces for the Lady Bison who also got six kills and four aces from Addy Ruiz. Hannah Glunt ran the Clearfield offense with 28 set assists.

PURCHASE LINE 3, CURWENSVILLE 0

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Despite nine set assists and a dig from Savannah Carfley, Curwensville dropped a 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-21) decision to visiting Purchase Line.

Lizzy Palmer led the Lady Tide offense with five kills while adding four blocks and a dig, Jorja FGleming had three kills and two digs, and Alissa Gallaher had five digs.

SENECA 3, UNION CITY 0

ERIE, Pa. – Seneca swept visiting Union City, 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-22).

Ava Guzowski had five kills and five digs for Seneca with Morgan Parmeter chipping in 14 digs.

Lucy Higley led Union City with six kills and three digs, Angie Hopson added four kills and three blocks, and Cathryn Reynolds had three kills and two digs.

Lilly Vincent chipped in three digs for the Bears with Michayla Magee running the offense with 10 set assists while chipping in two kills.

HICKORY 3, WILMINGTON 1

WILMINGTON, Pa. – Raeley Gargano had 12 kills and seven aces to help visiting Hickory to a 3-1 win over Wilmington.

Leah Garm added 11 kills and Madison Jones eight kills for the Hornets.

GALETON 3, CAMERON COUNTY 0

GALETON, Pa. – Olivia Rohrbaugh, Johanna Dickerson, and Eve Cole each had seven kills to lift Galeton to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-19) sweep of visiting Cameron County.

Rohrbaugh also had 10 digs, five aces, a block, and an assist with Dickerson adding 13 set assists, 13 digs, six aces, and a block and Cole eight digs and three aces.

Macy Crowell also added 11 set assists, three kills, a dig, and an ace for the Lady Tigers.
