Semifinal Tuesday: District 10 Boys’ Teams to Play for Spots in Finals in Class 4A, 3A and 2A

WARREN, Pa. – It’s semifinal Tuesday in District 10 boys hoops, as the finalists in Class 4A, 3A, and 2A will be determined.

All four Class 2A teams have already advanced to the PIAA tournament, while three teams go in both class 4A and 3A.

Here’s a look at each game.

CLASS 4A SEMIFINALS

(1) Fairview vs. (4) Hickory at Hagerty Family Events Center, 6 p.m.

                                      

Records: Fairview 21-2; Hickory 16-7
Top Players: Fairview – Logan Frazao 15.5 ppg., James Sitter 14.7 ppg., Tyler Shultz 9.5 ppg.; Hickory – Jackson Pryts 13.8 ppg., Joey Fazzone 11.8 ppg., Aidan Enoch 10.5 ppg.
Winner Gets:2 Grove City/6 Oil City winner
Notable: Fairview has given up more than 40 points in a win just once since a 62-46 victory over Warren on Jan. 14. Pryts led four players in double figures with 16 points in a 58-45 win over Warren.

(2) Grove City vs. (6) Oil CIty at Slippery Rock University, 7:30 p.m.

Records: Grove City 14-8; Oil City 15-8
Top Players: Grove City – Landon Haggart 13.4 ppg., Dylan Stull 11.5 ppg.; Oil City – Judias Johnson 12.4 ppg., Judias Johnson 12.3 ppg.
Winner Gets: 1 Fairview/4 Hickory
Notable: Haggart led the way with 13 points in Grove City’s 46-37 quarterfinal win over Slippery Rock. The Oilers outscored Harbor Creek 15-6 in the fourth quarter in their 39-36 quarterfinal win.

CLASS 3A SEMIFINALS

(1) Franklin vs. (5) Mercyhurst Prep at Slippery Rock University, 6 p.m.

                          

Records: Franklin 21-2; Mercyhurst Prep 10-13
Top Players: Franklin – Easton Fulmer 21.8 ppg., Damon Curry 15.4 ppg., Luke Guth 13.9 ppg.; Mercyhurst Prep – Dewey Byrd 12.3 ppg., Trey Battle 10.6 ppg.
Winner Gets:2 Seneca/3 Girard winner
Notable: Fulmer tied Franklin’’s all-time career scoring mark in a quarterfinal win over Erie First Christian. Byrd scored a team-high 14 points in a 50-44 quarterfinal win over North East.

(2) Seneca vs. (3) Girard at Hagerty Family Events Center, 7:30 p.m.

Records: Seneca 18-5; Girard 15-8
Top Players: Seneca – Jacob Young 13.1 ppg., Logan Kibbe 12.2 ppg., Bobby Yost 8.9 ppg., Justin Walker 8.4 ppg.; Girard – Dylan McDonald 12.2 ppg., Austin Shady 10.1 ppg., JJ Lehman 8.9 ppg.
Winner Gets: 1 Franklin/5 Mercyhurst Prep winner
Notable: Seneca won both meetings this season, 50-42 and 43-28

CLASS 2A SEMIFINALS

(1) Kennedy Catholic vs. (4) Cambridge Springs at Meadville HS, 7:30 p.m.

Records: Kennedy Catholic 19-4; Cambridge Springs 13-10
Top Players: Kennedy Catholic – Elijah Harden 19.0 ppg., Malik Lampkins-Rudolph 18.3 ppg., Gio Magestro 13.8 ppg.; Cambridge Springs
Winner Gets: 2 Rocky Grove/6 West Middlesex winner
Notable: Kennedy Catholic trailed 15-14 in the early stages of their 77-50 quarterfinal win over Cochranton, but outscored the Cardinals 62-36 the rest of the way. Cambridge Springs’ Parker Schmidt scored 21 points in a 68-38 quarterfinal win over Eisenhower.

(2) Rocky Grove vs. (6) West Middlesex at Meadville HS, 6 p.m.

Records: Rocky Grove 18-5; West Middlesex 13-10
Top Players: Rocky Grove – Isaac Clayton 16.7 ppg., D’Andre Whitman 12.0 ppg., Reece Henderson 7.1 ppg., Quinn Ritchey 6.7 ppg.; West Middlesex – Richie Preston 18.5 ppg., Tanner Shick 9.8 ppg., Gio Rococi 9.7 ppg.
