Schleicher Gets 2,000th Assist in Meadville Win; ECC Takes Sheffield’s Best Shot but Sweeps to Victory; Sanfilippo Reaches Milestones in North East Win (Oct. 10 VB recaps)

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Elliott Schleicher had 30 set assists including her 2,000th career set assist to lift visiting Meadville to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-13) win over Grove City.

Emma Parks, who has been on the receiving end of many of those assists, had 16 kills and 11 digs for the Bulldogs while Sydney Holt also had a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs.

Ellie Kellick chipped in six kills for Meadville, and Kendall Mealy had 16 digs.

Makayla Northcott and Jaya Persinger each had four kills for Grove city with Northcott also adding six digs. Abby Berry ran the Eagles offense with eight set assists.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, SHEFFIELD 0

               

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Unbeaten Elk County Catholic took one-loss Sheffield’s best shot but withstood it to take home a 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-20) road win.

ECC’s night couldn’t have started off any worse with the Lad Crusaders trailing 14-3 in the first set before going on a set-ending 22-9 run to take the set.

Tori Newton led ECC with 13 kills and an ace with Reagan Bauer adding nine kills and an ace and Payton Newton eight kills and three aces.

Kiri Emmert ran the offense for the Lady Crusaders with 33 set assists.

Emma Roell led Sheffield with 11 kills and 19 digs while Kassidy Orinko added seven kills and four blocks and Emily Foster had four kills and seven blocks.

   

Emily Davidson led the Lady Wolverines with 23 digs.

NORTH EAST 3, GIRARD 0

NORTH EAST, Pa. –  Grace Sanfilippo, reached her 2,000 assists  and broke the school record for aces as North East earned a 3-0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-10) home win over Girard.

Sanfilippo had 29 assists as well as eight aces and six digs in the match.

Cadence Jones had 12 kills and seven aces for North East, while Kayla Forsythe added nine kills for the Grape Pickers with Jalyssa Wicker chipping in five kills.

Briell King had 12 digs as well for North East

Laurel Counasse had seven assists for Girard with Rorie Lawrence adding five kills and Alivia Montgomery eight digs.

FRANKLIN 3, TITUSVILLE 2

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Katie Boal had 14 kills and four blocks to help Franklin hold off Titusville, 3-2 (26-24, 27-25, 25-27, 17-25, 15-7).

Jillian Ewing paced the defense for the Knights with 23 digs, while Estella Adams ran the offense with 38 set assists.

                           

MERCYHURST PREP 3, FAIRVIEW 0

ERIE, Pa. – Addica Sperry had a monster game with 26 kills and 13 digs to lead Mercyhurst Prep to a 3-0 (25-16, 27-25, 25-19) win over visiting Fairview.

Oliva Kulyk added eight kills and 16 digs for the Lakers with Da’Zhana Jordan pacing the defense with 15 digs.

Julia Seth set up the Mercyhurst Prep offense with 35 set assists while adding 15 digs.

MAPLEWOOD 3, ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN 0

           

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Giving up just 32 points, Maplewood swept visiting Erie First Christian, 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-2).

Madison O’Hara had 12 kills to lead the Tigers with Elizabeth Hunter adding eight kills and Bree Neely six aces.

Lexy Potosky also had six aces while adding 18 digs, and Maggie Means ran the offense for Maplewood with 25 set assists. She added five digs.

SOMERSET 3, CLEARFIELD 0

HYDE, Pa. – Hannah Glunt, was celebrated for gaining her 1,000th career assist last week
her 1,000th career assist and had 18 set assists Tuesday but Clearfield dropped a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-18) decision to visiting Somerset.

Glunt is Clearfield’s all-time leading assist giver.

NORTH CLARION 3, VENANGO CATHOLIC 0

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. – On Senior Night at North Clarion, three seniors helped the She-Wolves sweep Venango Catholic, 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-13).

Julia Daum had five kills, three aces, and two blocks, while Lily Homan added three kills, eight digs, and two aces, and Kaitlyn Zona chipped in two aces, 12 digs, and two kills.

CLARION 3, KARNS CITY 0

KARNS CITY, Pa. – On rhe road, Clarion got 34 set assists, three digs, two aces, and a kill from freshman Addi Campbell on its way to a 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-15) win over Karns City.

Marley Kline led the Lady Cats on offense with 13 kills while Anna O’Toole added six kills, 10 digs, and two aces.

Alicyn Burford also had six kills in the win to go with three aces with Sophie Babington chipping in four kills and seven digs, and Taylor Alston adding 11 digs and three kills.

Ava Fox had eight kills and nine digs for Karns City with Naomi Venesky adding four kills and two digs, Nicole Taylor 12 digs, and Jaysa Capone five digs.

Ashley Mauer had 10 set assists and seven digs for the Lady Gremlins

WEST MIDDLESEX 3, ROCKY GROVE 0

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Emma Mild paced a balanced West Middlesex effort with seven kills, five aces, and five digs, as the Big Red went on the road and beat Rocky Grove, 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-23).

Maggie Briggs added six kills and two blocks for West Middlesex with Avery Hanahan contributing five kills, 11 digs, and four aces.

Caitlin Stephens chipped in 10 set assists and six kills, and Abby Stinedurf had eight set assists.

Katie Beggs had 16 set assists, three kills, and two aces for Rocky Grove with Kaidlynn Burger adding 15 digs, and Abby Cable five kills and six blocks.

Also for the Orioles, Natalee Sloss had three kills and seven digs, Olivia Faust four kills and seven digs, Paige Cresswell five kills and two aces, and Josie Seely four kills.

EISENHOWER 3, CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 0

RUSSELL, Pa. – Emilie Jones had 12 kills to lead Eisenhower to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-18) win over visiting Cambridge Springs.

Caroline Smyth added seven kills and three blocks with Marissa Gourley adding five kills and three blocks.

FORT LEBOEUF 3, HARBOR CREEK 1

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Kayleigh Anderson and Katelynn Olmstead combined for 20 kills to help Fort LeBoeuf overcome a slow start to beat homestanding Harbor Creek, 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-14).

Anderson had 11 kills and six blocks with Olmstead adding nine kills and six digs.

Bellas Johnson had a team-best 11 digs for the Bison while Tessa Bellis had eight digs and 12 set assists and Mackenzie Galdon 15 set assists and seven digs. Mya Stolz also had six blocks and three kills in the victory.

Hannah Smith led Harbor Creek with 10 kills while Taylor Vickey had six kills and Elise Benim and Liz Gunther five kills each.

Aly Hester chipped in seven digs for the Huskies, and Talon King (15 set assists) and Addison Lucas (10 set assists) ran the offense.

OSWAYO VALLEY 3, BOLIVAR-RICHBURG (N.Y.) 0

BOLIVAR, N.Y. – Oswayo Valley crossed the state line and beat Bolivar-Richburg, 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-21).

Oliva Cook led the Green Wave with 11 kills and five blocks with Praylan Perkins adding eight kills, four digs, two aces, and a block, and Eva West contributing four kills, seven digs, and a block.

CORRY 3, NORTHWESTERN 0

ALBION, Pa. – Halle Albers had six kills, five aces, and six digs to lead Corry to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-10) road win over Northwestern.

COCHRANTON 3, YOUNGSVILLE 0

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Brooklyn Needler had 14 kills and seven aces, as Cochranton had little trouble picking up a 3-0 (25-16, 25-8, 25-19) home win over Youngsville.

Claire McCartney added seven kills for the Cardinals with Macie Williams adding 11 digs.

Maggie Jackson ran the offense for Cochranton with 29 set assists.

CRANBERRY 3, FOREST AREA 0

SENECA, Pa. – Not allowing a set worth of points, Cranberry swept visiting Forest Area, 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-4).

Allie Rembold had 14 set assists for the Berries with Ayanna Ferringer recording nine kills and Rylee Coe had five kills.

SAEGERTOWN 3, OIL CITY 0

OIL CITY, Pa. – Fresh off its victory in the high-level Cochranton Tournament, Saegertown gave up just 16 points in sweeping homestanding Oil City, 3-0 (25-4, 25-4, 25-8).

Lyndzee Amory had six kills for the Panthers while Rhiannon Paris and Paige Smith each added five kills.

Lindsey Greco, Alyssa Arblaster, Maggie Triola, and Paris each served four aces with Rylie Braymer recording eight digs.

Greco ran the offense with 21 set assists.

Nicki Petro had two kills and two digs for Oil City.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3, BROCKWAY 0

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Jessy Frank had 12 kills to help visiting DuBois Central Catholic to a 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-21) win over Brockway.

Emma Elensky added 10 kills for the Lady Cardinals and Kayley Risser had eight kills.

Kalina Powell had 20 digs and two aces for Brockway while Teyha Shaw added two kills and five blocks. Sophie Schmader led the offense with eight kills and 10 digs, and Lauren Rendos had six kills and seven digs.

Meeca Smith ran the offense for the Lady Rovers with 17 set assists and also chipped in four digs.

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Tay Chester had eight kills and 11 digs to help Sharon pick up a 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-23) road win over Sharpsville.

Ondrea Young and Victorya Byler each added seven kills for the Tigers, and Cameryn Krecek had 11 digs.

Jamoria Crumby ran the Sharon offense with 16 set assists.

UNION CITY 3, SENECA 1

ERIE, Pa. – Brooke VanTassel had 11 kills, nine digs, five aces, and two blocks to help Union City to a 3-1 (25-18, 13-25, 25-17, 25-20) road win over Seneca.

Angie Hopson added seven kills and Brooklyn Wienczkowski four kills.

Lily Vincent had nine digs for the Bears, and Alyssa Tingley ran the offense with 20 set assists while adding 10 aces and eight digs.

Ava Guzowski had 21 set assists, seven kills, and seven digs for Seneca with Madison Morvay adding seven blocks and five kills and Morgan Wilheim chipping in nine blocks.

Izzy Wisniewski had five aces and 13 digs for the Bobcats, Sam Harvey chipped in eight digs, and Emily Stafford had six digs.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 3, KEYSTONE 0

KNOX, Pa. – Kaylee Smith had 24 set assists and four aces to help Clarion-Limestone complete a perfect KSAC regular season with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-11) sweep at Keystone.

Jenna Dunn was the leader at the net for the Lady Lions (11-0 in conference play) with 14 kills while picking up six digs, and Maddy Greeley had nine kills and five aces.

Abby Knapp-Greeley paced the C-L defense with 10 digs.

Audrey Burrows had four kills and three aces for Keystone with Ava Patrick adding four blocks and five kills and Gywn Mannor 15 digs and two aces.

KANE 3, RIDGWAY 0

KANE, Pa. – Mia Anderson had 11 kills and a block, and Maya Smith had 11 kills, six aces, and six digs to lead Kane to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-20) home win over Ridgway.

Leah Tigani had eight digs for the Lady Wolves, and Elizabeth Yasurek ran the offense with 32 set assists.

CATHEDRAL PREP 3, MCDOWELL 0

ERIE, Pa. -Kaylin Laird had 10 kills to help Cathedral Prep down visiting rival McDowell, 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-16).

Coco Speros and Olivia Hutchinson each added eight kills for the Ramblers while Ellen Hutchinson chipped in six aces and Khrahys Nickson six kills.

Mackenzie Moore led the defense with nine kills, and Kamryn Resurreccion ran the offense for Prep with 30 set assists while adding seven digs.

Halle Guentner had 16 set assists for McDowell with Chase Rech picking up seven digs and Lexie Radtke six digs. Ana Fetzner had a team-best six kills for the Trojans.

REDBANK VALLEY 3, A-C VALLEY 0

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Taylor Ripple had 10 kills, six digs, and three aces as Redbank Valley beat upset-minded A-C Valley, 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 26-24), at home.

Izzy Bond added seven kills, seven digs, and two aces for the Lady Bulldogs who also got four aces, three kills, and six digs from Mylee Harmon, three kills, and eight digs from Kira Bonanno, and 18 set assists from Elaina Carrico.

Lexi Altman had 10 kills and 14 digs for A-C Valley with Maddy Dehart chipping in eight kills and three blocks and Bella Ielase six kills. Colleen Verostek also had 10 digs for the Lady Falcons.

LAKEVIEW 3, FARRELL 1

STONEBORO, Pa. – Leigha Marsteller had seven kills and eight digs to help Lakeview to a 3-1 (25-10, 25-17, 20-25, 25-13) win over visiting Farrell.

Riley Sample added six kills, three digs, and three blocks for the Sailors while Kyndra Seddon had six kills and six blocks.

Maddie Doyle had a team-best 11 kills to go with eight digs for Lakeview, and Emma Marsteller ran the offense with 21 set assists while adding four kills.

GENERAL MCLANE 3, ERIE 1

EDINBORO, Pa. – Ella Beachly had 24 digs to pace a strong defensive effort for General McLane in a 3-1 (19-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-22) home win over Erie.

Marcella Hakanen and Libby Opp each added nine digs for the Lancers with Harkanen also adding seven aces and Opp six set assists.

Morgan Frick had 11 set assists and four aces for GM, and Cassidy Swain added five blocks. Maddie Rotko paced the offense with eight kills and chipped in four digs.

MONITEAU 3, UNION 0

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Abbey Jewart had 16 set assists and three aces to lead Moniteau to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-12) win at Union.

Lily Staab had seven kills and two digs for the Lady Warriors, and Davina Pry chipped in seven kills and five aces.

REYNOLDS 3, WILMINGTON 0

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Kalen Trapp led a balanced offensive effort with seven kills as Reynolds beat visiting Wilmington, 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-22).

Addie Flock added six kills and three aces for the Raiders with Rylee Gearhart chipping in six kills and Lana Wolfe four kills.

CRAWFORD COUNTRY CHRISTIAN 3, JAMESTOWN 1

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Vsiiting Crawford County Christian beat Jamestown, 3-1 (25-21, 15-25, 25-16, 25-12).

Alayna Cadman had seven kills and Sophia Hart and Hannah Hart each added six kills for Jamestown with Sophia Hart also recording 10 digs.

Madilyn Enterline had 25 digs for the Miskies and Emily Enterline added 16 set assists and 11 digs.

MERCER 3, HICKORY 2

MERCER, Pa. – Mercer beat visiting HIckory, 3-2 (32-30, 23-25, 25-18, 16-25, 15-12).

Leah Garm had nine kills and six digs for Hickory with Kiki Joanow adding six kills, five digs, and four blocks.

Also for the Hornets, Ari DeBlasio had 27 digs and Mallory Nucerino added 17 digs.

Bella Multari picked up 14 set assists for Hickory.

Mercer stats weren’t available.

SLIPPERY ROCK 3, GREENVILLE 1

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Anora Robare had 39 set assists to help Slippery Rock to a 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-19, 26-24) home win over Greenville.

Lexi Plesakov led the defense for the Rockets with 22 digs while Avalee Demidovich had 14 kills and Molly Bissell 12 kills.

Lillian Campbell and CJ Sabo both picked up three blocks in the win.

JOHNSONBURG 3, ST. MARYS 2

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Kiera Marciniak, Natalie Dunworth and Marlee Cherry all had double-digit kills as Johnsonburg rallied for a 3-2 win over St. Marys, 24-26, 18-25, 25-22, 25-9, 15-13.

Marciniak had 14 kills, six aces and eight blocks, while Dunworth had 13 kills, two aces and 13 digs and Cherry 10 kills and five blocks.

Maria Casilio had 16 digs and six aces for the Ramettes, while Cadence Brechtel ran the offense with 40 set assists and three aces.

BRADFORD 3, BROOKVILLE 2

BRADFORD, Pa. – Whitney Guth had 18 kills for Brookville, but it was host Bradford that came away with a 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 17-25, 25-20, 15-13) victory.

Also for Brookville, Julie Monnoyer had nine kills and Eden and Jamison Colgan five each. Jordan Daisely added 12 kills, while Eden Colgan had eight and Whitney Guth five. Samantha Whitling had 20 set assists, Daisley two aces, Natasha Rush and Whitling one ace and Monnoyer two blocks.
