Saegertown Baseball Splits a Pair of Games in South Carolina April 1

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Dylan Flinchbaugh’s two-run single in the top of the seventh inning helped Saegertown earn a split of a pair of games at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach with a 7-6 win over Faith Christian Academy (Pa.).

The Panthers, who dropped a 15-4 decision to Anthony Wayne (Ohio) in the first game Thursday, found themselves trailing 6-4 going to the seventh as the visiting team.

But back-to-back singles by Jaden Reagle and Henry Shaffer put runners at the corners with no one out.

Zach Balog then reached on an error by the shortstop scoring Reagle and moving Shaffer to third.

Courtesy runner Anthony Hernandez then stole second before Flinchbaugh delivered the go-ahead single that turned out to be the game-winner.

Landon Caldwell, who pitched the final 1 ⅔ innings to earn the win, hit the first batter he faced in the bottom of the seventh but the next batter popped into a double play, and a popout ended the game.

Reagle was 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored for Saegertown while Flinchbaugh went 2-for-2 with a walk and four RBIs. Balog was also 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, and Shaffer was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored.

In the game against Anthony Wayne, a seven-run fifth inning helped the Ohio team to the 11-run victory.

Shaffer was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs for the Panthers, while Reagle was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Flinchbaugh was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
