Redbank Valley’s Braylon Wagner Named Week 10 District 9 Jim Kelly POW Powered by the Allegheny Grille

WARREN, Pa. – Just three weeks ago, Braylon Wagner was the backup quarterback at Redbank Valley.

Now the freshman is the Week 10 2022 YDL Sports Network D9and10sports.com Jim Kelly Player of the Week powered by the Allegheny Grille in Foxburg.

Wagner earned the honor after a terrific game against Central Clarion helping the Bulldogs hand the Wildcats their first loss of the season by going 16 of 24 passing for 279 yards and five touchdowns while adding 23 yards rushing on six carries.

Additional players who need to be mentioned who had fantastic weeks – it should be kept in mind that stats are not the sole driver of the Player of the Week with such important factors including opponent, the importance of the game, clutch play, and others equally weighed – include Keystone’s Tyler Albright (4 catches, 56 yards, 3 Tds; 4 carries, 57 yards 1 TD) and Kyle Nellis (13 carries, 170 yards, 3 TDs), Brookville’s Brayden Kunselman (6 catches, 116 yards, 2 TDs; Returned a fumble he caused 23 yards for TD) and Noah Peterson (12 of 20 passing, 168 yards, 2 TDS, 1 INT, Ran for a TD; Intercepted 2 passes on defense), Kane’s Ricky Zampogna (28 carries, 239 yards, 3 TDS; 5 of 8 passing, 97 yards, 1 TD), Brockway’s Jendy Cuello (30 carries, 207 yards, 3 TDs), and DuBois’ Trey Wingard (18 of 25 passing, 301 yards, 3 TDs) and Cam-Ron Hays (8 catches, 211 yards, 1 TD).

Those players are joined on the Honor Roll by Redbank Valley’s Brandon Ross (11 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks, Returned an INT for a TD), Central Clarion’s Ashton Rex (9 catches, 209 yards, 1 TD), Karns City’s Mason Martin (4 carries, 62 yards, 2 TD after replacing an injured Eric Booher late in the first half to help rally the Gremlins to a win), Clearfield’s Carter Freeland (16 carries, 121 yards; 6 catches, 122 yards, 1 TD), Punxsutawney’s Zeke Bennett (30 carries, 194 yards, 2 TDs), Port Allegany’s Blaine Moses (13 carries, 100 yards, 3 TDs) and Noah Archer (5 carries, 60 yards, 1 TD; 2 catches, 69 yards, 1 TD), Bradford’s Talan Reese (21 of 30 passing, 273 yards, 2 TDs). and Curwensville’s Danny McGarry (18 of 34 passing, 250 yards, 2 TDs, 2 ints; 10 carries, 112 yards, 1 TD; 1 catches, 34 yards).

Jim Kelly is the Hall of Fame quarterback of the Buffalo Bills who grew up in East Brady, Pa. and went to Miami (Fla). Kelly was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002 after passing for over 45,000 yards as a pro, including two seasons in the USFL, with 320 career touchdown passes. He led the Bills to four straight AFC Titles. Kelly’s name on the award is being used with his permission.
