DUBOIS, Pa. – The Punxsutawney duo of senior Braxton Sherry and junior Ben Gigliotti captured the District 9 Class 2A doubles tennis tournament on Monday at DuBois High School.
Sherry and Gigliotti beat the Brockway team of Lewis Painter and Jared Marchiori, 6-2, 6-1 for the title.
The Punxsy tandem earned a hard-fought win in the semifinals. 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 over Bradford’s Devin Benson and Gavin Piscitelli.
With the win, Sherry and Gigliotti advance to the PIAA championships on May 28 and 29 at the Hershey Racquet Club.
