Prep Finishes Tied for Fifth at Boys 2A State Swimming Championships

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Cathedral Prep finished in a tie for fifth-place at the PIAA Boys’ 2A State Swimming and Diving Championships at Cumberland Valley High School Friday.

The Ramblers finished with 109 total team points, tied with Belle Vernon. Bishop McDevitt won the team title with 142.5 points.

Prep didn’t crown any individual champions, but all three relay teams placed in the Top-10. The 200 Medley Relay team of Jacob Baum, Matthew McCormick, Aidan Levis and Kyle Sargent placed fourth, the top finish for any District 10 individual or relay. The Ramblers’ 200 Free Relay (Joseph Armanini, Andrew Kolodychak, Levis and Sargent) finished seventh, and the 400 Free Relay team (Armanini, Sargent, Levis and Baum) took eighth.

Additionally, Baum finished ninth in the 100 Back.

District 9’s top finisher was Clearfield’s Leif Hoffman, who placed fifth in the 500 Free. Hickory’s Jason Basile was seventh in that race.
