Prep 200 Medley Relay Team Takes Gold; Ramblers in Second Place After Day 1 of PIAA 2A Swimming Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Cathedral Prep, the defending Class 2A state team swimming champion, is in second place after Day 1 of the 2023 PIAA 2A championships at Bucknell University, adding a gold medal in the 200 medley relay in the process.

The Ramblers have 98 total team points after Day 1, second only to Bishop McDevitt, which has 101.

The Prep team of Mitchell Bradford, Matthew Hinman, Aidan Levis, and Colin Troutman took first with a time of 1:33.89.

Levis added another medal in the 100 butterfly, finishing fourth with a time of 50.29.

Bradford was also eighth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.51, in an event in which Warren’s Hugh Harrison finished sixth in 1:53.18

On the girls’ side, the Cathedral Prep 200 medley relay team of took second with a time of 1:39.40. The team consisted of Maria Costa, Haley Palmer, Kyan Smith Snider-Mills and Ellie Natemeier.

Prep’s Haley Palmer took fourth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.02.

The Slippery Rock and Fairview girls also took sixth and eighth, respectively in the 200-free relay.

The Slippery Rock quartet of Season Grant, Ann-Katherine Burns, Natalie Double, and Grace Olshanski clocked in with a time of 1:40.84.

The Fairview team of Jillian Dennis, Emerald Rucks, AnnieWAlker and Abby Zablotny was eighth in 1:42.07
