STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Penn State DuBois avenged a loss in last season’s PSUAC Championship game, beating Penn State York 6-1 for the 2023 crown on Monday at Medlar Field.
DuBois struck for five runs in the first two innings – three in the first and two in the second and never looked back.
Connor Cherry fired a gem in the win, tossing 5 ⅔ innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out two, and walking two.
A Corey Lehman fielder’s choice and an RBI single from Karns City grad Tyler Yough helped DuBois to an early 3-0 advantage in the first inning.
In the second inning, Lakeview grad Brett Beith belted a 2-run home run to make it 5-0.
Beith finished 2-for-4, while Colby Bodtorf set the tone from his leadoff spot, going 3-for-4 with a double and three runs, Grant Lillard also added an RBI, and St. Marys grad Brandon Sicheri was 2-for-3 with a triple.
This is DuBois’ fourth PSUAC title in the last 5 played seasons.
DuBois will be the No. 9 seed in the USCAA Small College World Series as they will face D’Youville College from Buffalo on Monday at Showers Field.
