On Top: D9’s 1A Top Teams Roll as Miller Tosses 1-hitter for Clarion, DCC 10-runs Franklin

PAINT TWP., Pa. – Tanner Mille threw a one-hit shutout, as Clarion blanked Karns City, 6-0, at the Clarion County Park.

Miller went seven innings. He walked two and hit a batter while striking out six.

Offensively, Dawson Smail battled through a pregame facial injury to go 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Miller helped himself by going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Devon Lauer was 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.

   

                  

Michael Neff had the lone hit, a single in the fourth that gave the Gremlins runners on first and second following an error. But Miller got a fielder’s choice and then picked off a runner at first with runners on the corners before striking out a batter to end the threat.

Mallick Metcalfe took the loss going five innings allowing six runs, one earned, on 10 hits and a walk while striking out two.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 12, FRANKLIN 2, 5 innings

DUBOIS, Pa. – DuBois Central Catholic scored eight runs in the third inning en route to a 12-2, 5-inning win over Franklin.

Carter Himes led DCC, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Cartar Kosko was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs, Carter Hickman was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Brayden Fox was 1-for-3 with two runs, Kaden Brezenski was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs and Trenton Miller was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

                          

Hickman got the complete game win, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out four, and walking one.

Luke Guth hit a solo home run and also doubled for Franklin, while Aidan McCracken also drove in a run.

Ethan Nightingale took the loss, allowing four runs in 2 ⅓ innings on four hits, striking out one.

COUDERSPORT 8, OSWAYO VALLEY 2

               

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. –

Gavyn Ayers and Owen Deutschlander each drove in two runs to help Coudersport to an 8-2 road win over Oswayo Valley.

Ayers was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Dylan Howard and Mason Roessner each added two hits for the Falcons with Howard going 2-for-4 with an RBI and Roessner going 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Meanwhile, Danny VanVladricken doubled in the win and was 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored, and Jacob Hooftallen went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Andrew Wood was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored for Oswayo Valley. Ethan Hackman had an RBI for the Green Wave.

Roessner got the win in relief of Deutschlander going 1 ⅔ innings allowing two hits while striking out two. Deutschlander went 3 ⅓ innings giving up two unearned runs on three walks and a hit batter while striking out two. Ayers finished up going two scoreless innings striking out four.

Hackman took the loss going four innings allowing five earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two.

BROCKWAY 11, BRADFORD 6

BRADFORD, Pa. – Chad Young drove in three runs to help Brockway to an 11-6 win at Bradford.

            

Young went 3-for-5.

Ezra Swanson added a double and three runs scored while going 3-for-4 in the win for the Rovers, while Matthew Brubaker scored three times while going 1-for-4 with a walk, and Dylan Bash was 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Talan Reese went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Bradford with Chase Gray going 2-for-3 with a double and Andrew Renwick also going 2-for-3.

Andrew Brubaker got the win going 5 ⅓ innings allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits, four walks, and a hit batter while striking out six. Young went the final 1 ⅔ innings allowing two earned runs on a hit and three walks while striking out one.

Reese took the loss pitching 3 ⅔ innings giving up eight runs, four earned, on five hits, four walks, and two hit batters. He struck out six.

BUCKTAIL 23, NORTHERN POTTER 7. 4 INNINGS

ULYESSES, Pa. – An 11-run fourth inning helped lift Bucktail to a 23-7, four-inning win at North Potter.

Kyler Friese led Bucktail going 2-for-5 with a double, four runs scored, and four RBIs, while Braylon Fantaski was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and four runs scored.

Noah Cady and Wyatt Kibbe each had two hits for Northern Potter with Cady going 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI and Kibbe going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Brett Mason got the win in relief of Xander Shearer going 1 ⅓ innings allowing two hits while striking out three. Shearer went 2 ⅔ innings allowing seven runs, three earned, on four hits, five walks, and hitting a batter while striking out four.

Garrett Fuhrer took the loss going one inning allowing six runs, four earned, on a hit and five walks while striking out three.

ALTOONA 9, DUBOIS 6

ALTOONA, Pa. – Altoona erased a 6-5 deficit by scoring three in the fifth and once more in the sixth to knock off visiting DuBois, 9-6.

Connor Blough led the Mountain Lions on offense going 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs. Evan Alwine and Connor Lindsey each added doubles in the win with Alwine scoring a run and Lindsey driving in a run.

Jordan Well was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored for DuBois while Drew Cook and Trey Wingard each added doubles. Cook was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, and Wingard was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Blough, the third Altoona pitcher, got the win going 3 ⅔ innings scoreless. He allowed two hits and struck out seven.

Brock Smith, the second of three DuBois pitchers took the loss going two innings allowing two unearned runs on a hit and four walks while striking out one.
