Oct. 8 VB Recaps: Maplewood Beats Titusville; Oswayo Valley Gets Big Win Over Coudy

MAPLEWOOD 3, TITUSVILLE 0

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Chloe Leech, Sadie Thomas and Avery Brunot combined for 29 kills to lead visiting Maplewood past Titusville, 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-10).

Leech led the Tigers with 13 kills, Thomas added nine and Brunot seven. Bailey Varndell distributed the ball finishing with 26 set assists.

Maplewood used great serving to gain the victory recording 17 team service aces.

            

OSWAYO VALLEY 3, COUDERSPORT 1

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Another monster night from Jadyn Brabham helped Oswayo Valley to a 3-1 (25-15, 14-25, 25-17, 25-15) win over visiting Coudersport.

Brabham had 26 kills, 16 digs, two blocks and an ace to lead the Green Wave to victory.

Oswayo Valley also got 10 kills, 25 digs, seven blocks and two aces from Macy West, two kills, two aces, three blocks and nine digs from Ella Malogrino. Johanna Dickerson ran the offense with 36 set assists and added 10 digs, two blocks and a kill.

Paige Watson had eight kills, five digs, three blocks and two aces to lead Coudersport which also got three digs and 12 set assists from Liz Frame, 11 kills, 16 digs and two aces from Avare Kellert and 17 digs from Makenzie Gentzyel.

                          

KEYSTONE 3, VENANGO CATHOLIC 0

KNOX, Pa. – Ceayra Altman had six kills to help Keystone improve to 11-1 on the year with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-23, 25-16) win over visiting Venango Catholic.

Sydney Bell added six digs and four kills for the Lady Panthers who also got three aces from Leah Exley.

Jenna Lopata had three kills and a block for Venango Catholic, while Cheyanne Rudder added 18 digs and Chloe Rudder chipped in six set assists, seven digs and a kill.

CLARION 3, FOREST AREA 0

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Clarion used 31 service aces to beat Forest Area, 3-0 (25-2, 25-5, 25-3), at East Forest.

Jordan Best and Brenna Campbell led the way with seven aces apiece with Payton Simko adding five aces and Adia Needham and Ava Kiser four each.

Korrin Burns, who had three aces herself, led the Lady Cats with six kills with Grace Ochs chipping in three kills. Campbell had 10 set assists.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 3, NORTH CLARION 0

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Elliott Ferrent and Chloe Sproull combined for 21 kills to pace a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-18) Punxsutawney win over visiting North Clarion.

                        

Ferrent had 11 kills and Sproull 10. Katelyn Griebel paced the Lady Chucks defense with 20 digs while Madi Fye chipped in 10 digs. Danielle Griebel ran the offense with 32 set assists and added a pair of aces.

Alana Brooks had 19 digs for North Clarion with Emily Aites adding eight kills and Sarah Aaron 15 set assists.

GALETON 3, SMETHPORT 0

GALETON, Pa. – Alli Macensky had 14 kills, two digs, two aces and a block to lead Galeton to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-8, 25-16) sweep of visiting Smethport.

Tressa Succowich added five kills, three set assists, eight digs and an ace, Olivia Rohrbaugh had five kills and 10 digs, Makenna Shuemaker three kills, nine set assists, 11 digs and three aces, Lauren Sauley 10 set assists, 12 digs and four aces and Mikayla Schott six digs for the Lady Tigers.

         

Baylee Fitzsimmons had 25 digs and an ace for Smethport with Madie Faes adding five digs, six set assists, three aces and two kills, Chloe Costa eight digs, three aces and three kills and Dani Nelson five digs, five set assists and a kill.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, BRADFORD 0

BRADFORD, Pa. – Moira Stanisch had 19 set assists and four kills to help visiting Elk County Catholic beat Bradford, 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-15).

Julia Aikens led a balanced offensive effort for the Lady Crusaders with six kills while adding three aces. Maddie Marzullo had five kills and a block and Brooke Bauer and Gabby Weisner each chipped in three kills.

Tami Geci paced the ECC defense with 24 digs while adding three aces.

REDBANK VALLEY 3, MONITEAU 0

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Brianna Minich’s 10 kills helped Redbank Valley sweep visiting Moniteau, 3-0 (26-24, 25-3, 25-16).

Ryley Pago added eight kills, two blocks and an ace for the Lady Bulldogs who also got eight kills from Montana Hetrick, five aces from MaKenna Bish and three digs from Savanna Boyer to move to 10-1 on the year.

Brooke Holben ran the Redbank Valley offense with 27 set assists and chipped in four aces.

OTTO-ELDRED 3, NORTHERN POTTER 0

ULYSSES, Pa. – Reilly Raught’s nine kills, six digs and six blocked paced a 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-20) win by visiting Otto-Eldred over Northern Potter.

Haley Cousins added five digs and five kills from the Lady Terrors who also saw Brianna Silvis record six kills, three digs and two blocks and Morgan Dalton get six kills and five digs. Emmalee Sheeler ran the offense with 15 set assists while chipping in a pair of aces.

Megan Hyde had 12 digs, three kills and two aces for Northern Potter with Courtney Martin adding 10 digs and two aces and Madison Hoopes 15 digs.

DUBOIS 3, CURWENSVILLE 0

DUBOIS, Pa. – Bella Gregory had 10 kills and three aces to lift DuBois to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-18) win over visiting Curwensville.

Emma Torretti paced the Lady Beavers defense with 17 digs, and Eden Galiczynski ran the offense with 26 set assists while adding three aces.

FORT LEBOEUF 3, ERIE HIGH 1

ERIE, Pa. – Visiting Fort LeBoeuf got double-digit kills from Audrey Friedman, Anna Bayer, and Lauren Dahn on its way to a 3-1 (25-10, 25-18, 22-25, 25-10) win at Erie High.

Friedman led the Bison with 13 kills, Bayer had a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs and Dahn added 11 kills and eight digs.

Also for Fort LeBoeuf, Jordan Popowski had 14 digs and Katie Proctor 12 digs. Kerringten Wasiulewski ran the offense with 25 set assists and got an assist from Mackenzie Kulik, who had 19 set assists and six digs.

PORT ALLEGANY 3, AUSTIN 0

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Seven kills apiece from Madeline Smith and Emily Bishop helped Port Allegany to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-14) home sweep of Austin.

Smith added nine digs, two set assists and a block, while Bishop had a block and a set assist as well. Jade Evens chipped in four kills, two aces and a block for the Lady Gators, while Marah Rush had 12 set assists, four aces and six digs.

Ella Brewer had nine digs for Austin with Khloe Nicka recording four kills and Marah Fowler 10 set assists.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 3, YOUNGSVILLE 0

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Visiting Cambridge Springs swept Youngsville, 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-17).

Cambridge Springs stats were unavailable, but Jena Wilson had 11 set assists, three aces and three digs for Youngsville with Samantha Wilhelm adding seven digs.

A-C VALLEY 3, CRANBERRY 1

FOXBURG, Pa. – Mia Sherman had 14 kills, 13 digs and a block to help A-C Valley overcome a slow start to get a 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-15) win over visiting Cranberry.

Andrea Meals also had a strong match for the Lady Falcons with 13 kills, 13 digs and seven aces with Meah Ielase adding 10 kills, 20 digs and two aces and Rachel Cullen 26 digs. Tarra Stefanacci ran the offense with 27 set assists.

Ava Ferringer paced Cranberry with a match-high 16 kills to go with 12 blocks and two digs. Maria Anderson added seven kills with Mackenzie Karnes chipping in three kills, five digs and four blocks. Sara Allaman ran the offense with 21 set assists.

SLIPPERY ROCK 3, LAKEVIEW 2

STONEBORO, Pa. – Behind 20 kills and four blocks from Tiffany Madison, Slippery Rock knocked off homestanding Lakeview, 3-2 (17-25, 25-16, 25-11, 19-25, 15-6).

Laney McClymonds added nine kills and 21 digs for Slippery Rock which also got seven kills and 14 digs from Reagan Duffy and 18 digs from Klara Wilson. Virginia Recchia ran the offense with 32 set assists and added 16 digs.

SAEGERTOWN 3, EISENHOWER 0

RUSSELL, Pa. – Seven kills each from Averie Braymer and Mollie Przybrowski helped visiting Saegertown to a sweep, 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-19), of Eisenhower.

Braymer added seven digs and an ace with Przybrowski chipping in six digs and an ace. Also for the Panthers Theama Scott had six kills, Amber Costello 20 digs, Aidanne McLaughlin six kills and five digs and Ava Jones 29 set assists, five digs and three kills.

CORRY 3, NORTH EAST 2

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Rachel Brady’s double-double of 25 kills and 21 digs helped visiting Corry outlast North East, 3-2 (25-16, 22-25, 25-21, 23-25, 16-14).

Ciara David added 19 kills for the Beavers, while Allison Zackiewicz ran the offense with 49 set assists while adding nine digs. Lindsey Mitchell paced the defense for Corry with 19 digs, and Taylor Elchynski had 18 digs.

BROOKVILLE 3, BROCKWAY 0

BROOKVILLE, Pa. — Brookville earned its first win of the season with a 25-15, 25-12, 25-16 sweep of Brockway.

Ashton Pangallo served 12 aces as the Lady Raiders finished with 20 overall. Maggie Mackins had seven kills, two blocks and two aces and Emily Steel finished with four kills and three blocks.

Brockway got five kills from Stephanie Stage and two kills and two aces from Mackenzie Webster.
