Oct. 5, 2020 Soccer Recaps: Karns City, Warren boys keep rolling; Clearfield girls win in OT; Bradford remains perfect

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Dakota King scored twice as Karns City blanked Punxsutawney.

Owen Collwell scored on a direct kick and Robby Rumbaugh a rebound for the Gremlins’ goals.

Karns City’s defense, led by Kaden Scherer, Chase Beighley, Cole Sherwin and Alex Irvine held the Chucks to one shot on goal.

WARREN 6, EISENHOWER 0

WARREN, Pa. – Mark Lynds and Parks Ordiway scored two goal each in the second half to help Warren past Eisenhower.

Wes Kiehl and John Page had first half goals for Warren, which improved to 9-0, with seven of those wins coming via shutout.

Ian Darling had two assists and Kiehl, Ordiway and JT Blum one each. Alex Ferry got the shutout in net.

TITUSVILLE 6, OIL CITY 0

OIL CITY, Pa. – Sam Ruot scored four goals as Titusville cruised to a 6-0 victory over Oil City.

Liam Thompson also scored a pair for the Rockets.

FORT LEBOEUF 4, CORRY 0

CORRY, Pa. – Mitch Rathburn recorded a hat-trick to send Fort LeBoeuf past Corry.

Nathan Feltmeyer had the other goal for the Bison

ERIE 4, HARBOR CREEK 3, OT

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Ahmed Saadoon scored in overtime to send Erie to a dramatic 4-3 win over Harbor Creek.

James Golman and Henry Polaski also scored for Erie.

Brandon Konieczki had a pair of goals for the Huskies and Justin Hakel one.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 4, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 1

DUBOIS, Pa. – Beau Verdill notched a hat trick to send C-L past DCC.

Verdill’s goals came via assists from Peyton Smith and Bailee Verdill, while the other was unassisted.

Nate Megnin also scored (unassisted) for the Lions.

GROVE CITY 2, WILMINGTON 0

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Coldan Barr and Jacob Irani both scored to send Grove City to a 2-0 victory over Wilmington.

SENECA 2, IROQUOIS 1

ERIE, Pa. – Nate Suddarth and Zach Nichols scored goals to lead Seneca past Iroquois.

         

Kaiden Brown found the back of the net for Iroquois.

GIRARD 9, CONNEAUT (Ohio) 0

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Ethan Gimber and Christian Jeffery scored a pair of goals each for Girard, as the Yellow Jackets had seven tallies in the second half against Conneaut.

Mason Artz, Andy Jones, Gabe Hansen, Isaiah Schoonover and Alex DiTullio also scored for Girard.

CLEARFIELD 4, CENTRAL 3, OT

HYDE, Pa. – For the second time in three days, Clearfield defeated Central, this time in overtime.

Emma Hipps scored the game-winner off a feed from Elle Smith after Amanda Hazel scored on an assist from Riley Ryen for the Bison to send the game to overtime.

Clearfield’s Lydia Brown scored the lone goal of the first half (assisted by Alayna Winters), and Elle Smith scored on a penalty kick early in the second half to make it 2-0, only to watch Central rattle off three-straight goals courtesy of Avery Black, Jenna Smith and Darey Heltzel.

Cayleigh Walker was the winning keeper with eight saves, while Katryn Longenecker had 8 for Central.

REDBANK VALLEY 8, PUNXSUTAWNEY 1

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Raegen Beamer notched a hat trick as Redbank Valley earned an 8-1 win over Punxsutawney.

Alexandra Shoemaker scored a pair of goals for the Bulldogs, who split their goals evenly between the first and second half.

Quinn Fricko and MaKayla McGuire also scored for the winners.

Eryn Bailey had two assists and Josey Adams and Beamer had one each.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, KANE 1

KANE, Pa. – Tally Cirione, Lani Cerroni and Riley Belsole all scored for Elk County Catholic as they topped Kane, 3-1.

Sadie Walter scored for Kane.

BRADFORD 8, PORT ALLEGANY 0

BRADFORD, Pa. – Maddi Cowburn and Kelsea Austin each recorded hat tricks as Bradford stayed perfect with a win over Port Allegany.

Austin now has 27 goals this season.

Brielle Budd had 19 saves for Port Allegany.
