Oct. 3, 2020 Soccer Recaps: Warren girls stay perfect; Karns City, Kane boys win in OT; Bradford rallies

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Kyra Wotorson scored four goals, three in the second half, to lead Warren to an 8-0 win at Titusville Saturday.

Wotorson also added an assist in the match and Paige Johnson had two goals and an assist in the win. Sydney Rex and Kyleigh Wilson each had a goal, while Georgie Bickling and Ella Ordiway each had a pair of assists. Wilson chipped in a helper as did Lennon Daily.

Alyssa Andersen had the shutout in net.

Warren moves to 7-0 on the year and the Dragons have outscored their opponents 57-1.

CLEARFIELD 3, CENTRAL 0

HYDE, Pa. – Elle Smith recorded a hat trick as Clearfield blanked Central, 3-0.

Smith scored twice in the first half, the first goal unassisted and the second off a feed from Emma Hipps. She also scored on a penalty kick in the second half.

Cayleigh Walker had nine saves to earn the shutout in net for the 7-2-1 Bison.

EISENHOWER 2, MAPLEWOOD 0

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Julia Gesing scored a pair of first half goals and Lilee Renninger made them stand up as Eisenhower won 2-0 at Maplewood Saturday.

The Knights opened the scoring just six minutes in. Cassie Smelko took a corner kick and put it in front of the goal where Gesing blasted it in.

The second goal came 17 minutes into the first half. Elley Eastman took the ball to the corner, then sent a centering pass to Gesing who put it in for the 2-0 lead.

Lilee Renninger earned the shutout in net.

CURWENSVILLE 2, BROOKVILLE 1

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Emma Rebar scored a pair of goals as Curwensville edged Brockway, 2-1.

Rebar scored at the 22:31 mark of the first half to give the Golden Tide a 1-0 lead, but Brookville’s Morgan Monnyer tied the game with 16:06 to go in the second half.

Rebar’s second goal less than two minutes later sealed the win.

Maura Bunnell had 11 saves for Curwensville.

GENERAL MCLANE 9, SENECA 1

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Brooklyn Respecki had five goals and two assists to lead GM past Seneca.

Teaghan Watkins had two goals and an assist, while Sydney Rotko and Abby Walker scored one each.

Elena Halmi notched two assists.

BOYS

ST. MARYS 2, PORT ALLEGANY 0

         

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Vini Nunez and Nathaniel Eckert scored to send St. Marys past Port Allegany, 2-0.

In the setback, Port Allegany keeper Ty Guilds had a monster game, recording 37 saves. That total is believed to be a single-game program record.

Jonathan Chamberlain had two saves for St. Marys.

KARNS CITY 3, SLIPPERY ROCK 2, OT

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Myles McCully scored with 4:42 left in the second overtime period to send Karns City to a 3-2 victory over Slippery Rock.

Dakota King and Owen Collwell each scored for KC. Colwell’s goal came with 2:35 left in regulation to tie the score.

The overtime win comes after the teams tied 3-3 in their first meeting of the season.

KANE 6, ELK COUNT CATHOLIC 5, OT

KANE, Pa. – Josh Greville and Aiden Zampogna scored two goals each to send Elk County Catholic past Kane in an overtime thriller, 6-5.

Jess Stear also scored for Kane, with Justin Mishic dishing out three assists and Josh Greville another.

Alec Huckabone had 8 saves in net for the Wolves.

BRADFORD 6, GALETON 5

GALETON, Pa. – Trailing 3-1 20 minutes into the game, Bradford went a man down and proceeded to rally for a 6-5 win over Galeton.

Gavin McGee scored a pair of goals for the Owls, while Ethan Tate, Andrew Kane, Brady Ervin and Cameron Austin added one each.

McGee also had two assists and Tripp Hoover, Austin and Jake Franz one apiece.

Galeton’s Ty Stover scored three goals, including two penalty kicks, while Jake Cochran found the back of the net twice.

Tristan Dragoone made 7 stops for Bradford in net and Zach Williams 5.
