Oct. 22 VB Recaps: Otto-Eldred Claims NTL Title; Clarion Wins KSAC Championship

OTTO-ELDRED 3, SMETHPORT 0

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Otto-Eldred claimed the NTL title with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-17) road win over Smethport, as Brianna Silvis recorded eight kills and eight digs.

Reilly Raught also contributed to the win with six kills and eight digs, and Morgan Dalton had six kills and five digs.

            

Baylee Fitzsimmons had a strong defensive effort for Smethport with 23 digs, Kaylee Swanson added six digs, four aces, and three kills, Chloe Costa chipped in six digs and two kills, Hayley Durphy had eight set assists, and three digs and Madi Faes had five digs, five set assists, two kills, and two aces.

CLARION 3, VENANGO CATHOLIC 0

OIL CITY, Pa. – Korrin Burns and Aryana Girvan combined for 24 kills to help Clarion wrap up the KSAC title with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-5, 25-8) sweep at Venango Catholic.

Burns led the Lady Cats with 14 kills while adding four digs and Girvan had 10 kills and three digs.

                          

Erica Selfridge chipped in six kills, and Payton Simko had four kills for the Lady Cats, who moved to 18-0 on the season.

Clarion, the No. 1 ranked team in Class 1A in the state, also got 25 set assists, three digs, and five aces from Brenna Campbell and four aces each from Grace Ochs and Jordan Best.

Lily Homan had nine digs for Venango Catholic, and Meadow Hartle chipped in two kills.

KANE 3, RIDGWAY 0

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Audri Marconi had nine kills, seven digs, and an ace to help Kane sweep to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-18) road win over Ridgway.

Sarri Swanson picked up five blocks, three kills, and two aces for the Lady Wolves who also got three blocks and three kills from Madi Stahl. Emma Ely ran the offense with 18 set assist and added eight digs and five aces.

MAPLEWOOD 3, WARREN 0

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Chloe Leech and Sadie Thomas combined for 27 kills and 21 digs to help Maplewood to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-21) win over visiting Warren.

Leech led the Tigers with 16 kills and 11 digs with Thomas adding 11 kills and 10 digs. Madison Crawford chipped in five digs for Maplewood with Bailey Varndell running the offense with 24 set assists.

Hannah Shattuck had eight kills to pace Warren’s offense with Olivia English adding seven kills. Katie Madigan led the Dragons defensive effort with 25 digs, Halee Mineweaser ran the offense with 24 set assists while chipping in six digs and two kills, and Carly Beers had six aces, three digs, and three kills.

                        

CURWENSVILLE 3, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 1

DUBOIS, Pa. – Allison Hess and Alyssa Bakaysa both reached double digits in kills to lead visiting Curwensville to a 3-1 (25-11, 25-16, 18-25, 25-17) win over DuBois Central Catholic.

Hess led the Lady Tide with 14 kills with Bakaysa adding 11 kills. Janessa also had six kills in the win.

Emma Caldwell ran the Curwensville offense with 37 set assists.

COUDERSPORT 3, AUSTIN 0

         

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Paige Watson had five kills and five digs to help Coudersport topple visiting Austin, 3-0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-15).

Mikayla Kavonas ran part of the offense for the Lady Falcons with 16 set assists and also had five aces and three digs. Liz Frame chipped in 12 set assists, three digs, and two aces, and Vanessa VanWhy had four kills, six digs, and three aces.

JOHNSONBURG 3, ST. MARYS 1

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Johnsonburg topped visiting St. Marys, 3-1 (25-22, 19-15, 25-15, 25-7).

Johnsonburg stats weren’t available, but Lindsey Reiter had nine kills to lead St. Marys and Samantha Vavala added nine set assists.

REDBANK VALLEY 3, BROCKWAY 0

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Moving to 18-1 on the year, Redbank Valley beat visiting Brockway, 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-6).

Montana Hetrick led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 kills and four aces, Brianna Minich had five kills, Brynn Rearick chipped in 12 digs and three aces.

Brooke Holben ran the offense with 16 set assists and also had six aces.

KARNS CITY 3, FRANKLIN 1

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Ashley Fox had eight kills and 14 digs to help Karns City pick up a 3-1 (25-16, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19) road win over Franklin.

Morgan Smith added seven kills for the Lady Gremlins who also got five kills from Natalie Hess, four kills and six digs from Amber Mauer, four kills, six digs, two aces, and 10 set assists from Emma Johnson, three kills, three digs, two aces, and 16 set assists from Rosalie Carden, four aces from Jessica Dunn, and 22 digs from Shavon McCanna.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 3, BROOKVILLE 0

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Elliott Ferrent and Lizzie Neal each had seven kills to help Punxsutawney defeat homestanding Brookville, 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-17).

Ferrent also added three aces, and Katelyn Griebel chipped in six kills and two aces for the Lady Chucks.

Maggie Mackins paced Brookville with six kills while Ashton Pangallo added five kills.

A-C VALLEY 3, SHEFFIELD 0

FOXBURG, Pa. – Mia Sherman had a match-high 12 kills to go with seven digs, as A-C Valley topped visiting Sheffield, 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-22).

Andrea Meals and Meah Ielase each contributed identical eight-kill, 17-dig performances for the Lady Falcons with Rachel Cullen recording 20 digs. Tarra Stefanacci ran the offense with 26 set assists and also chipped in four digs.

Kassidy Orinko had seven kills, 13 digs, and four blocks for Sheffield. Emily Leichtenberger added 14 digs and three kills. Kadence Steffan ran the offense with 17 set assists.

OSWAYO VALLEY 3, CAMERON COUNTY 1

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Jadyn Brabham had 21 kills, 15 digs, and two aces to help Oswayo Valley beat visiting Cameron County, 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-15, 25-20).

Macy West added 14 kills and 15 digs for the Green Wave who also got 28 digs from Trinity Lundy and 27 set assists, four kills, three aces, and two blocks from Johanna Dickerson.

Morgan Lorenzo led Cameron County with five kills and 11 digs, Mallory McKimm added nine digs, three blocks, and two kills, and Kaelee Bresslin and Hailey Hilfiger each had three kills with Bresslin also contributing seven digs.

CRANBERRY 3, ROCKY GROVE 1

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Ava Ferringer had a monster match with 19 kills to lead Cranberry to a 3-1 (25-10, 27-29, 25-9, 25-14) road win over Rocky Grove.

Maria Anderson was right there with Ferringer recording 15 kills and eight aces, while Mackenzie Karnes had nine kills. Sara Allaman ran the offense for the Berries with 27 set assists.

GALETON 3, PORT ALLEGANY 0

GALETON, Pa. – Nine kills, four aces, two digs, and two blocks from Alexis Johnson helped Galeton run away from visiting Port Allegany, 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-12).

Alli Macensky added six kills, four digs, and two aces for the Lady Tigers who also got 10 digs, three kills, three aces, and seven set assists from Lauren Sauley, eight digs from Tressa Succowich, five kills and six digs from Olivia Rohrbaugh, 10 set assists from Makenna Shuemaker, and nine digs from Mikayla Schott.

HARBOR CREEK 3, GENERAL MCLANE 0

EDINBORO, Pa. – Elena Cubero had 10 kills and nine digs to lead visiting Harbor Creek to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-20) win over General McLane.

Maura Benim added 10 digs and five kills for the Huskies, while Alli Flook had 15 digs. Izzy Gray ran the offense with 27 set assists.

Kayle Seidel paced General McLane with 12 kills, 13 digs, and two aces, Ava Elmer had seven digs, two kills, and two aces, and Brooke Simmons had 21 digs. Jenna Kulka ran the offense for the Lancers with 19 set assists and added five digs.

SLIPPERY ROCK 3, GROVE CITY 0

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Virginia Recchia had 26 digs, 16 set assists, six kills, and five aces to lift Slippery Rock to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-22) home win over Grove City.

Makenna Shaner added seven kills and 18 digs for the Rockets who also got 10 kills and three blocks from Tiffany Madison, seven kills and 10 digs from Laney McClymonds, 27 digs from Klara Wilson, and 13 digs from Reagan Duffy.

FORT LEBOEUF 3, CORRY 1

WATERFORD, Pa. – Anna Bayer and Lauren Dahn had 11 kills each to help Fort LeBoeuf to a 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22) win over Corry.

Mackenzie Kulik had 20 assists and Kerringten Wasiulewski for Fort LeBoeuf.

Leading Corry was Allison Zaczkiewciz (38 assists) and Rachel Brady with an impressive 17 kills to go along with 18 digs.

MCDOWELL 3, FAIRVIEW 0

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – McDowell’s Abby Soboleski had an impressive performance with 13 kills, nine digs, and 16 assists to help her team to a 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-23) win over Fairview.

Macy Testa added 13 kills for the Trojans.

Chloe McManus had 11 kills and 10 digs and Jenn Hunter 22 assists for Fairview.
