Oct. 21, 2020 Soccer Recaps: Clearfield Girls Rally For Win

HYDE, Pa. – Elle Smith scored twice, including the go-ahead goal just past the midway point of the second half to lift Clearfield to a 3-1 comeback win over Penns Valley on Wednesday.

Leah Beben scored to gives Penns Valley a 1-0 lead off a corner kick, but Smith tied it less than seven minutes later on an unassisted goal.

Smith’s go-ahead goal came off a feed from Riley Ryen, and Amanda Hazel scored just over six minutes later, again from Ryan.

           

Cayleigh Walker had four saves for the 13-2-1 Bison, while Kylie Auman had 10 stops for Penns Valley.

REDBANK VALLEY 3, CURWENSVILLE 0

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Rhiannon Laughlin scored a pair of goals to help Redbank Valley past Curwensville, 3-0.

Ember Hetrick had the other Redbank Valley goal, while Reagan Beamer tallied an assist.

Gabby Dinger had the clean sheet in net.

PORT ALLEGANY 4, RIDGWAY 1

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Bree Garzel scored two goals in the first half and Evin Stauffer netted two in the second half to help send Port Allegany past Ridgway.

Gracie Archer assisted on both of Garzel’s goals, while Garzel also assisted on one of Stauffer’s goals.

Hannah Kemmer had RIdgway’s goal.

Jen Baxter had four saves for Port Allegany and Megan Rohr 10 stops for Ridgway.

BOYS

KARNS CITY 5, BROOKVILLE 0

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Dakota King scored three goals as Karns City blanked Brookville, 5-0.

Owen Colwell and Myles McCully had a goal each for the Gremlins.

Karns City finishes the regular season at 11-1-1.

HICKORY 2, GREENVILLE 2

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Michael Orendi and Paul Morelli scored first-half goals for Hickory, but Greenville rallied in the second half for a game that ultimately ended in a 2-2- tie.

MERCYHURST PREP 2, NORTH EAST 0

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Jarrett Harry scored both Mercyhurst Prep goals to send the Lakers past North East.

IROQUOIS 2, CONNEAUT (OHIO) 0

CONNEAUT, OHIO – AJ Brine and Andrew Kightlinger both scored as Iroquois knocked off Conneaut (Ohio).

FAIRVIEW 5, FORT LEBOEUF 0

WATERFORD, Pa. – Five different Fairview players scored goals in their win over Fort LeBoeuf.

Drew Smith, Nathan George, Aidan Piazza, Eli Yahn and Brady Baker all scored for the Tigers.
