Oct. 17, 2022 Soccer Recaps: C-L Boys Top Redbank; Clearfield, McDowell, Warren, Mercyhurst Prep Girls Earn Shutouts

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bailee Verdill scored two goals as Clarion-Limestone beat Redbank Valley, 3-1.

Danny Schweitzer had one goal for C-L and Thomas Uckert and Wyatt Borden had one assist each.

RIDGWAY 1, PORT ALLEGANY 0

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Samy McCurdy scored the lone goal of the game as Ridgway edged Port Allegany, 1-0.

            

Ethan Streich had 11 saves for Ridgway and Aidan Clark five for Port.

CLEARFIELD 9, HUNTINGDON 0

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Elle Smith scored three goals and Alayna Winters two as Clearfield blanked Huntingdon.

Riley Ryen, McKenna Lanager, Mia Smith, and Ella Haffey all had one goal each for the Lady Bison, while Smith had three assists and Winters and Mia Helsel one each.

                          

Cayleigh Walker had three stops in net to earn the clean sheet.

KARNS CITY 11, PUNXSUTAWNEY, 1

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Emma Dailey scored four goals and McKenna Martin three as Karns City beat Punxsutawney, 11-1.

Lyrik Reed, Paige Dodd (PK), Cece Morrow, and Bella Shields also scored for the Lady Gremlins.

Martin and Hanna Dailey had three assists, Emma Dailey two, and Reed, Morrow, Taylor Miller, Addy Christie, and Aubrey Price one each.

SLIPPERY ROCK 6, GROVE CITY 1

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Hannah Plunkard recorded a hat trick as Slippery Rock bested Grove City, 6-1.

Brooke Arblaster, Eve Miller, and Aiva Reich also scored for Slippery Rock.

Anna Slagle had the lone goal for Grove City.

CATHEDRAL PREP 3, FORT LEBOEUF 3

                        

ERIE, Pa. – Olivia Dixon scored a pair of goals for Prep as they battled to a 3-3 draw with Fort LeBoeuf.

Moira Thunnell also scored for Prep, while Alexa Tojaga had two assists and Callie Cacchione.

CONNEAUT 6, SHARPSVILLE 1

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Conneaut scored five second-half goals en route to a 6-1 win over Sharpsville.

Hannah Brady scored two goals and Laurynn Pelc, Brianna Nader, Harper Nelson, and Alayna Ott had one each.

         

Brady, Ott, Joslyn Fusco, and Jaidyn Jordan had one assist apiece.

MCDOWELL 9, MEADVILLE 0

ERIE, Pa. – Lillian Velez and Abby Faulhaber scored two goals each as McDowell earned a 9-0 win over Meadville.

Grace Emanuel, Carmel Frenn, Alexa Pawlak, Jenna Ellsworth, and Hannah Shepard also scored for the Trojans.

Ellsworth had three assists, while Emanuel had two.

Vivian Sanders had the shutout in net.

WARREN 14, OIL CITY 0

WARREN, Pa. – Ella Getner led the way as eight different players scored in Warren’s 14-0 win over visiting Oil City on Monday.

Getner had four goals and an assist for the Lady Dragons. Meea Irwin (3) and Ellie Yeager (2) each had multi-goal efforts, while Georgie Bickling, Charlotte Keeports, Eliza Brook, Marielle Stanz, and Lauren Anderson had one goal each.

Bickling had three assists. Alicia Collins, Lilly Brooker, Anderson, Riley Arlington, Ella Ordiway, and Yeager each had one helper.

MERCYHURST PREP 7, IROQUOIS 0

ERIE, Pa. – Seven different Mercyhurst Prep players scored in a 7-0 win over Iroquois.

Milly Pierce, Audrey Zimmerman, Regina Zimmerman, Saide Messer, Olivia Stefanovski, Molly Taylor, and Isabella Janiuk all scored for the Lakers.

Taylor also had two assists.

BRADFORD 11, ERIE 0

BRADFORD, Pa. – Maddie Cowburn scored five goals as Bradford rolled to an 11-0 win over Erie.
